How cool! That has got to be one of the coolest competitions.
Goodness, her two horses won 1st & 2nd! And she’s only 18 yrs old! Wonderfully talented & dedicated young lady! Thanks for posting the news!
How cool she trained the top two horses.
The competition must be bittersweet for the trainers, knowing that the horse is going to be sold at the end.
Obbie Schlom also does some incredible work with mules.
Totally cool!
I know this isn’t entirely on-topic because my post pertains to a different program within the same organization, but I don’t understand why they put children with baby mustangs and I would never go for it myself. This program says the kids need to be 15 years of age, but the one near me puts baby mustangs with 10-year-old children, which is a terrible idea. Most of the kids don’t have knowledgeable parents at home (or else who would let them do this?) and it seems like a recipe for disaster. I know of a 12 year old doing it now who could not control her teenaged lesson horse at 4H shows, yet was allowed to get in a baby mustang for “training” in a competition. Dumb idea, really.
