19.5" rims and tires for trailers!

The local trailer dealer showed me these rims and tires and boy are they heavy duty. The sidewalls are much heavier than a normal tire and the tread is at least twice as deep.

This looks like a nice safety upgrade for our big trailers.

Just wondering if anyone is running these on their trailers?

Does your trailer have room in the wheel well for something that large?

Will it make your trailer ride in an unlevel manner once hooked to your truck?

Tires for those wheels come in a bunch of different sizes-not necessarily wider, or taller than regular wheels and tires. They’re typically much heavier duty than what is normally found on pickups and horse trailers, but would work fine.

Thanks Tom. We are thinking about putting these on our biggest trailer and taking the 17" heavy duty wheels n tires from it and putting them on our 4 horse LQ/ slide/mid tack trailer. We just have too much squish/flex in the sidewalls causing wear. We upgraded the axels last year which improved things quite a bit, but with the miles that we travel we are still having wear issues.

Tire diameter and width is critical here, not wheel size, although the latter will affect the choice of tires. (You can have the same diameter tires on a 17" wheel as you can on a 19" wheel…the sidewall exposure is just less on the latter)

“What fits” properly on your trailer is what is going to govern the actual tire size. Upsizing may or may not work in that respect, depending on the trailer’s space for the tires in the wheel wells.
