No, not protect them, but not USE them. They served no purpose in standing behind him during a press conference that was bordering on a discussion of “war.” Children have no place being in a room with our President during that crisis. THAT was what I found inappropriate.
Also, I do, as jl so kindly pointed out, have a right to my opinion. Maybe years of Vietnam, Nixon, and even Clinton have made it difficult for me to get behind anyone in office. Politicians are corrupt, end of sentence. Otherwise we would NOT be in this situation. If we managed our own country better and didn’t get sucked into the problems of every other country, we MIGHT not have these problems now.
Get behind my president? Well, yes, last night when he finally said we will not tolerate terrorists, nor the people who harbor them, I was behind him. I just think he needs to listen to his staff, and think about how he is representing US, the people of America. He has a man behind him that should have been president, Colin Powell. Now there’s a man who has presence, a brain, and international savvy.
In a democracy we all have a right to freedom of speech, and until yesterday, we had the freedom to travel around this country by plane, train, bus and automobile.
If this gets your undies in a tight wad, then say what you want back. That IS one of our great rights. When politicians start behaving as if their jobs are on the line at every turn, just as it is for all other Americans, THEN I’ll get on the wagon right away when something happens, but when they’re guaranteed security no matter how much they mess up, I’ll feel free to criticize.
I just can’t help but be angry and vent after all of this. JMHO
