2 Przewalski Horses turn up at auctions

That dudes foot looks weird.

This mare was bleeding out internally. My mare had the same injuries when she went into heart failure. She’s gone down in the night and bashed both her eyeballs and skinned her face. She looked awful, but it was the result of her dying behaviours.

He’s wearing a moonboot. Look at his jeans - it’s under his pants.

I had to wear that sort of boot when I broke my ankle.

I’m sorry about your mare.

The photo looks alarming. The whole situation was alarming. Perhaps they did their best.

Ugh. Paywall. Can you screenshot?

That is wild. So, surplus animals are not tracked if their bloodlines are not valuable. Those animals can end up in private hands and then their offspring can get lost in the pipeline because they were never recorded in the stud book.

Dirty little secret about zoos is that they do sell off animals privately. Giraffes are great about breeding in captivity and their babies are popular with the public. Have you ever wondered where those baby giraffes end up? Especially the males? Canned hunts.

The reporter who wrote the Times article often covers horse related matters, and she shows herself in the amateur hunter division.

@widge, thank you for sharing the article. It was a very interesting read.
