Although I am a bit on the side ‘what’s wrong with this picture’ that the rider DQd for blood on the flank from the whip is allowed to continue in the team competition but DQd only from the individual competition. (NB, the other rider with excessive use of spurs was competing as an individual only so DQd from entire competition.)
Seems to me that a DQ should be a DQ across the board…
It was bad behavior for both so I’m glad FEI at least enforces their rules. So disappointing to watch both of them. I agree DQ should be DQ from all in that competition. Hopefully FEI will consider a rule change.

I think it’s because the individual and team competition are technically considered 2 separate entities, so while he has been disqualified from the individual, it does not have an effect on the team competition and he is still permitted to compete because the infraction did not take place during a team competition.
Does that make sense? it makes sense in my head.
