Does anyone know if these are still made? I see Smartpak no longer carries them?
I also really like the Dare collar, and it is so much cheaper than the Equipe collar! I used it on a Connie/TB who had a pretty refined head/neck/throatlatch, and was very happy with it. He cribbed right through a nutcracker collar unless it was ridiculously tight, and was a delicate flower who developed sore spots just looking at a Miracle Collar. The Dare collar could be relatively loose, and the leather was good quality so easy to clean and didn’t rub. I have suggested the collar to a number of other people as well, and all have been pleased with it.
As for those asking why bother trying to stop a cribber - my little guy colicked horribly with epiploic foramen entrapment directly related to his cribbing. Seven meters of dead, entrapped bowel were removed, he spent 10 days in ICU, then colicked again three months later due to adhesions, and was euthanized at that time. If I can prevent all of that by putting a collar on a horse, I will, and also work towards rectifying the issues that cause the horse to crib in the first place. Finding my beloved pony in so much pain that he was lying on his back and refusing to flip back over isn’t something I will soon forget.
