2010 Chevy Silverado 2500HD - opinions?

I’m looking at a 2010 Chevy 2500HD 6.0L/ gas.
It would be used as a daily driver and for hauling.

Any opinions on these?

I have a 2017 2500HD with a 6.0L Vortec engine. The 6.0L engine is known to be a very dependable engine and is considered to be one of the best engines that GM ever put in their trucks. If serviced with regular oil and filter changes it can easily go 200,000 to 300,000 miles. Gas mileage is my only complaint. I get about 10 mpg in mixed service- town, highway, and trailer towing. In reviews of hauling trailers it does not do well at high altitudes with hills, but I live in the coastal plain of SC so I have no experience with that.

I have a 2012 2500HD. It’s been a good truck with no major issues. Currently there’s a problem with the window switches on the driver’s door - I can put all the windows down with it, but can only raise the back windows with their own buttons. Last year there was a problem with the oxygen sensor, and a few years ago I had a sticky brake caliper. Just stuff like that that’s bound to happen with vehicles, and the engine itself has been reliable. I’ve towed a 2H BP, 2+1 Gooseneck, a 24’ travel trailer, and a flatbed trailer with it.

I have a 2011 Chev 2500HD with the Vortec engine and no complaints from me. Hauls my 3H GN no problem and hasn’t given me any issues apart from regular maintenance.

It is a pig on gas though, even when not hauling a trailer. I’m glad I have my little Honda HRV as my daily driver because I would easily be spending $800+ a month in fuel alone if my truck was my only vehicle.

My truck is a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500HD 6.0L gas engine, so similar mechanically to the Chevy. Its been a stalwart of a truck for towing. I’ve towed my 2H BP and a 26’ camper with no issues. I don’t remember if my husband borrowed my truck to pull his flatbed trailer or not. He has his own GMC Sierra 1500 truck now as his daily driver.

I just wouldn’t want to have it as my daily driver since the gas mileage is about 10mpg even when not hauling. Thank goodness for my GMC Terrain!

I have a 2001 (!!!) Silverado 2500HD. It runs like a champ. It only has 130,000 miles on it because it sits under a carport (truckport) hooked up to my 2 horse GN most of the time.

I am amazed how little I had to do it in the way of maintenance. I will say that every few years I’ve taken it to a trusted shop and told them to do whatever it needs or wants. I’m good about taking it to the oil change place too and letting them have their way with it (air filters, and whatever else they suggest). I’ve always done that with my vehicles, and it’s paid off.

I feel like I owe to Chevy to speak up for this truck! It’s been a great one.

I have a 2017 Chevy 2500 with the 6.0 gas engine, about 80,000 miles on it. I tow two fatty draft crosses (about 2k and 1500lbs) in my Ebt 2h, no problem. Yes, the diesel feels more comfortable with the full load, but it has done fine.
Unfortunately it was struck by lightning (apparently, I didn’t see it) a few weeks ago so it is in the shop slowly figuring out what all is wrong with it.
As others says, the gas mileage is really really bad but it takes a lot of miles for the $ difference to come into play really, since the gas truck is significantly less expensive.

ETA: I’d much rather have the 2500 gas than the 1500 diesel if you’re in an area with hills. Technically they can pull the same, but stopping power is better.
