Gun Runner was IMO an expected slam dunk.
Thrilled for Lady Eli and very happy for Abel Tasman. 
Very happy also to see Jose Ortiz get top jock and Chad Brown (who seems, at least from the outside looking in) like a good and decent trainer.

Really a huge fan of Scorpiancer here. I know steeplachasing doesn’t have a massive following in North America but he’s a great horse. He only raced twice in 2017 but won both , one was a G1 and one was a G3. I am not sure how he came to be in the states but he is IRE bred top and bottom and started out in Europe
Abel Tasman; by far the most consistent in her category.
West Coast: although he skipped all the TC races; 2 G1 wins, 1 G1 show, 1 G3 place and 1 G3 win this year. Mr consistent of his crop. Hoping he ages better than Arrogate did
World Approval: the top. I am amazed his sire only stands for $5000 with all the success hes had with offspring
Some will argue that Bolt D Oro should’ve wont the 2 yr old award and I kind of agree. he has 2 G1 wins and was 3rd in the breeders cup while Good Magic won the breeders cup and was 2nd in the G1 Champagne. Both excellent horses but Bolt D Oro has more in terms of success this year
Forever Unbridled: very happy for Mr. Fipke and another homebred of his. great mare
So happy for Lady Eli’s win, and glad Gun Runner not missed.
Chad Brown, and Jose Ortiz most deservedly so.

The award given to the first responders at San Luis Rey and Hipodromo was wonderful. Out of a tragedy comes inspiration.
