As usual, turf and synthetic are safer surfaces than dirt. And 2 yos are less likely to break down than older horses.

No significance changes in stats. I am glad that this data is being collected as part of the process to understand how to keep the horses and jockeys as safe as possible.

Interestingly (and a bit of good news for a change,) Charles Town, which doesn’t report from my understanding, had a decrease in fatalities from 2017-2018.

I looked at the JC website and saw that. Glad they participate in reporting and glad they are implementing a necropsy program.
