Very surprised to see Flintshire so well received. 128 mares bred with 81% live foal success. Bloodlines very popular in Europe for turf but bloodlines that I think will do a lot of good in North America. We need a stallion like him, and he’s relatively affordable as well!
Frosted as well… 156 mares bred. 81% live foal success
I am surprised that Giant’s Causeway only bred 31 mares in 2018. Seems a bit low for a stallion of his caliber.
Shanghai Bobby… who has recently disappeared… bred 144 mares. Surprising considering its thought he is sold elsewhere for lack of success
Grey Swallow is a bit of a no name in North America but a stallion I have a soft spot for. Virtually all of his yearlings sold for pennies last week at Keeneland. He bred 21 mares this year. I am surprised no one is interested in his offspring for turf. Seems like bargain buys
I was also surprised to see Jess’s dream get 122 mares. Yes, his pedigree is stellar but the horse was a complete bomb on the track. Perhaps for $5k its worth the risk and he will make some nice ones?? I just don’t find him attractive at all. Slab sided, no substance,.
Kittens Joy bred 178 mares in 2018. After just some time ago they were considering shipping him to Europe for lack of interest. He seemed to have more interest and clients this year than many of the top dirt horses… and yet… every offspring I saw that sold at Keeneland sold for dirt
Maclean’s Music has attracted a lot as well. 181 mares bred and he only sired a Preakness winner of note (a good looking one at that). Hope he got some quality mares.
Oxbow was another surprising one. 187 mares and a lot of interest. I love Oxbow but I was surprised to see others do as well
Noble Mission- 110 mares. Turf sires seem to be getting a lot of interest.
American Pharoah- 214 mares bred. 74% success.
