Y’all may or may not find this interesting, but the rider who is currently sitting second in eventing dressage is a member of the Cadre Noir. It might be worth your time to watch the replay of his ride against the replay of the German leader who is leading by a ton. Or against Ingrid Klimke who hasn’t ridden yet.
Name?
Lt. Col. Thibaut Vallette. The German who is currently leading by a mile is Julia Krawjewski. Col. Vallette had one big time miss that was probably worth at least 1% of his score. His test results are up; Krajewski’s are not.
thank you
Does anyone know how tall Dorothee Schneider’s Sammy Davis Jr. Is? His legs look a mile long! I can’t find this inf oanywhere.
did you all hear that one endurance horse died and around 54 needed to be hospitalized after the competition?? I just read it in the German news and it sounds bad…
The Chronicle’s own WEG reporting says that ~ 50 horses were treated for dehydration. It doesn’t mention a horse death.
Still horrifying, and seems like there was good justification for the cancellation.
Also, I’m not sure what hospitalization means in this context. In my experience, treatment for dehydration is IV fluids, paste electrolytes and perhaps tubing and oil to prevent colic. All of that can be done in a stall, no “hospital” needed.

On the dressage front, how many go through to the Freestyle after the GPS? It’s hard to find information online
The top 15.
Did Isabelle’s horse look lame to anyone else? She certainly was not moving her feet evenly all the time. Occasionally, the mare even took a definitely bad step.
I cannot imagine taking a horse who has been lame for 3 years and getting it ready for GP competition. How can a horse be worked enough to get muscled up without sacrificing soundness?
Who won the special? Isabell?
not sure what you read, but the links from the COTH article quoted here talk about a euthanized horse…
how do you know that she was lame for 3 years??? I think I read somewhere that Isabel said she wasn’t lame during that time but there were other issues… But I saw that a very lame horse which I saw in Paris at the WC final was competing here as well… He is 18 and I felt sad to read his name. I really hope he recovered from Paris. There he did not even want to enter the ring. He was dead lame
I thought her horse looked quite tired compared to the others in her group. I didn’t notice any lame steps but I wasn’t looking for them.
The Chronicle just posted a new update about the euthanised horse (Barack Obama from NZ). That article makes it clear that there was a veterinary medic facility on site for endurance (the Endurance Treatment Clinic), and monitoring/treatment in that space is probably what is meant by hospitalization.
Wow The Special was so exciting!!.
Was impressed by all the rides I saw - watched the last hour and a few others.
LOVE Charlotte and her young mare- flowing and harmonious- beautiful presentation of a young GP horse. Wow.
. Laura and verdades - also lovely and harmonious
But then so were many others- too many to mention.
I agree. I thought the horse looked noticeably less active behind compared to yesterday - presumably tired. I didn’t notice any lameness.
Are the Germans limited to three in the Freestyle? That used to be the rule.
Since I can’t stream - did Steffen and Adrienne have actual problems, or just an off/lower scoring day for them, with mistakes strung together by tired young horses?
yes
