Any jog livestream this morning?
I thought I saw that the Hagyard Pharmacy and Kentucky Three Day pages were going to be live streaming, but nothing yet.
ETA: here it is on FB! https://www.facebook.com/KentuckyThreeDayEvent/videos/993169891384937/
Found them on FB! Thank you!
100% my perspective too. I was not surprised that the fall happened, but was surprised it didn’t happen sooner.
I sincerely hope both horse and rider recover well and that some lessons were learned.
The weather looks disgusting down there right now. At least it’s supposed to clear up by SJ.
Yes.
In racing, when there is an important, televised race, the track designates a vet as the pubic speaking vet. If there is an injury, that vet is interviewed shortly after and explains to the public what just happened. They will say fracture, or suspensory and explain what that means. They will say what the next steps are, including euthanasia. When the public witnesses an incident like this, it is traumatizing; much more so for the people in person. To those who have not witnessed a catastrophic equine event in person, I can’t emphasize that enough; the sounds alone are absolutely horrific. Prompt information, no matter how small, is comforting.
So I find it outrageous that Kentucky didn’t have a vet to speak to the public (over the PA and on livestream) shortly thereafter explaining what was known and what they were seeing/hearing. Something like this: ‘A horse fell at the fence and is down in the lake. It is not in danger of drowning. It is tangled in its tack. Vets are attending.’ Then: ‘The horse has been untangled. It is still down. At this time, there does not appear to be a physical reason why it cannot get up. It may be in shock; that would not be unusual. The attendants are going to winch the horse up and into a trailer to transport it to the vet clinic. We will provide updates.’ And then, actually provide stinking updates.
Carmango accepted!
thank you for posting the link to the jog
Also love the ponies still feeling cheeky enough to try to bite during the jog
Moonlight Crush sent to the holding area.
Edit to update: they have withdrawn
Campground accepted upon representation. Just Moonlight Crush didn’t make it through in the 4*.
Verizon hasn’t worked all week. I’ve been here since Tuesday and have not been able to use my phone on the grounds at all.
This is my first year watching and am using the free membership option. I am very grateful for the free coverage of the event. I agree that the camera work and production leaves something to be desired but overall I am happy. I think there are even a few small things they could do to improve the production - even just giving split screens. This could show a couple perspectives of the dressage tests (it was annoying to spend so much time focused solely on the horses legs), scoring, etc, and then on cross country day they could show multiple competitors at the same time when they are on course concurrently.
Michi jogging in the rain in a tux! Chipmunk accepted!
I have Verizon and have only had real issues on XC day. My phone was a brick for all of yesterday.
Thursday and Friday were fine, we got lunch early to beat the crowds and did our shopping early as well, so I can’t speak for any struggles vendors and food trucks had with internet service. I was able to send texts/pics/videos on those days though.
It’s been raining for a few hours but seems to be clearing up. It’s clear at my hotel right now, giving it a little while before heading over to KHP.
Sounds like they need some additional cell towers to handle the load!
Thanks for posting the jog feed! It’ll be midnight where I am by the time SJ starts, so I’ll have to do a “day-after-superbowl” means of watching (e.g., not looking at social media or phone and go straight to the SJ stream ).
Vandiver just jogged, which I assume means he’s show jumping today. I figured his retirement announcement yesterday meant Doug was withdrawing him.
Jollybo sent to the holding box.
I just love Sea of Clouds. He is just gorgeous and all class!
AP Prime also sent to the hold.
