2022 Maryland 5* at Fair Hill

I love that the cover photo of this video is a too-small loose ring lol

I think Jealoushe saw this on Instagram from a saddle fitter that is pretty outspoken against a lot of upper level riders. It could be wrong but I saw it the other day.
To me it did look like a screenshot of a video so I’m not sure how much we can tell from that on saddle fit. Apparently this fitter feels like she can assess it from screenshots and she is a professional so maybe she can but I cannot. I feel like angles can be really deceiving through some photos so I personally I took it a grain of salt.

So you’re not a fan of any upper level rider, and you want to know why this rider in particular doesn’t compete her horse bitless?

Should we really wonder why some riders aren’t open to answering every single question from the internet police if we think we can diagnose poor saddle fit off a screen cap?

Random thought of the day. You know that feeling when you’re riding along thinking “holy cow I’m BLAZING” and then you watch the video and see yourself moving at what appears to be slightly faster than a snail’s pace? Or when you’re having a bad ride and think “omg, I have close to zero control right now” and you watch the video and it looks like your horse just pulled a bit for a second? Imagine what Woods’ ride must have felt like if it looked that bad on video :scream:

Can you fill me in? I’d like to watch/see the post.

I feel like you are over reacting to my post for some reason?

I indeed saw photos of saddles of some of the horses with no wither clearance from Maryland. Not making it up, not sure why I would make that up? Seems weird.

I never said any of that other stuff? I’m confused.

I think it was a story on Instagram so it appears to be gone. I just remember being a little bit shocked that she showed Elisa’s face very clearly in the screenshot of the saddle. I understand her point that people at the top aren’t necessarily the end all of horse care / tack but again I think it’s a little hard to evaluate off of social media alone.

Here is the account if you want to follow them. They post on the stories a lot.

For the record, the pictures I saw were not of EW, so I don’t want anyone thinking that is who I was talking about!

I have seen this in person also at shows. I’m not trying to do any saddle fitting on anyone, I was merely saying some saddles had no wither clearance and in 2022 that shouldn’t be a thing anymore.

No one need take it personally.

She showed a screenshot of Will Coleman. I took a screenshot of it and sent it to my friend because I was pretty shocked she left his name in so blatantly
from my memory she’s typically blurred out riders faces, guess that’s not happening anymore
 :see_no_evil:

I’m not publicly shaming her account (the last thing I need is to get called out on that lol), I’m just repeating what I saw.

What you aren’t getting is that some horses like saddles to sit down low. They aren’t robots For someone who seems to be horse-welfare-focused, I’m shocked you’re saying some of the stuff you are here.

You’re directly implying that a saddle sitting low has some sort of discomfort automatically associated with it. It’s likely the polar opposite. What do you think is under that saddle pad, a gangrenous sore? A can’t-even-touch-it sensitive wither?

What are you implying about the horse care of the individual you’re talking about here? Are you saying they don’t care about their horse’s comfort? Have you seen this saddle in person?

Well yeah this wouldn’t be who @Jealoushe is talking about for obvious reasons lol

??? I didn’t say anything like that. I was talking about a saddle sitting directly on the withers, that’s it. That’s all.

I give up trying to talk to you - it’s abundantly clear to anyone with a brain what you were implying. You’re now trying to backpeddle. Be my guest.

I stand by this statement. No picture shows a saddle sitting directly on the withers of any horse at the Maryland 5*. Show the photo if you think otherwise.

If anyone is interested in learning more about the breeding of the top 3 finishers, I’ve got a new article out on EN! One has a damline stacked with eventers, one is sired by a racehorse, and one is 3/4 brother to an Olympic dressage horse.

Let me get this straight.

Some posters are bashing Will Coleman’s saddle fit based off a screenshot from social media and others are bashing Elisa Wallace for a magnesium deficiency in her horse 5 plus years ago.

And H/Js are supposed to be the catty ones

I just know you follow that saddle fitter and I saw it the other day so I thought maybe that was it. My bad, I shouldn’t assume.

Still a little relevant as it was a photo from the event in the OP about wither clearance.

Yeah the photo I saw was definitely a clear shot of Elisa Wallace pretty close up but I wouldn’t be surprised of any others either.

I’m not bashing Will Coleman AT ALL. I’m responding to what I saw on that persons IG page.

Oh no, my comment wasn’t directed at you at all!
