Great photos.
I had the good fortune to attend the Royal Windsor this year. Coming from America, I was blown away by the quality of the hunters, I was drooling. When we first got on the ground we walked by a class that Red Rock III was in. I stopped dead in my tracks and watched until the end. I would have taken him home if I could.
I agree with the judging and like Kilcarna Brilliant. But, boy, @SidesaddleRider! Is Seabourne Silent Valley not the spitting image of your old Warlock?
Beautiful horses but much too heavy for my liking. I only saw two that I would want to bring home.
Is a figure 8 (aka Mexican) noseband with a double bridle common?
Weight classes. It is very difficult to find a top quality heavy hunter these days. Fewer and fewer are bred as focus has shifted to sport horse breeding rather than “hunters”.
Grackles are not common with a double bridle because by the time the horse is in a double show bridle the issue requiring the noseband should have been resolved, particularly as manners and way of going are a big part of sidesaddle ladies hunters.
Such lovely quality, beautifully presented horses!
For my personal use, I’ll take that lighter weight grey cob, the small hacks and a couple of the lighter weight hunters, please and thank you.
The grey maxi cob is pretty fabulous, too, but I think he would stretch my hip joints a bit too much.
That Chestnut heavyweight hunter is a magnificent animal, but I suspect he’s a lot of horse!
The hairy Barbie types are very pretty and undoubtedly lovely animals, but too high maintenance for me!
