Wish I was there! I attended last week and there were some really challenging courses especially on Sunday. I’ll be tuning in for sure.

https://nhseq.stallinfo.net/dl/245b4e will be helpful as well! It will have the standby information, orders of go, and more! I found it helpful for the Hamel.

I can’t believe I did this, but I made PLANS on Sunday morning, so I won’t be home to watch the first half. Who am I? What is wrong with me? Am I sick?

I’ve never been so disappointed in my life.

You don’t get an opinion, you stood me up for the Medal. And the USET. And most of last year’s Maclay.

If it’s any consolation, I will also be standing you up for this year’s Maclay.

I had that feeling. That’s why you don’t get an opinion.

And to think it’s come to this after all these years.

Hey, I’m still coming to hang out with my friend @skydy for the second half. Shorty ditched us BOTH.

Shocking - I always expect you to be there first thing in the morning. Maybe you are going to spend the part of the day like a normal, non-horsey person?

I made plans to go for a run and bake cakes with a friend, and I wasn’t thinking about the calendar when I did this, so I didn’t realize I had made plans on a high holy day. Oops.

But I’ll be back for the second round and the work off. Unlike Shorty. Who is ditching us.

I’m from Zone 9 and we have a couple kiddos (sounds weird to say, I’m “only” 31…‍:dizzy:) in it - one of them is my barn-mate! Cheering them both on regardless, but extra special as we don’t typically have a ton of representation at Indoors (as say, Zone 10).

I always feel a bit sorry for my horse after these finals as I feel very inspired after to practice my lateral work, counter canter, and all the fun stuff the kids have to do.

If you want to share their names I’ll cheer them on from afar. I can’t wait for Sunday!

Watch it while you bake the cakes smh

My horse had to put up with this for 17 years of his life. When he was young we would set up the finals course in the ring, and by the last year he was in any kind of work, I would throw down poles or crossrails and we would “ride the test” (doing the double add everywhere but the hand gallop.) He had a sense of humor about this, but he was also teaching my mother at the time, and when he was 27 my mom’s instructor politely asked me to stop doing this the day before her lesson because the canny old fellow would exercise plausible deniability about whatever Mom had asked him to do and would continue to perform the test during her lesson. I would hear from my mom “I ASKED him for the lead change and he refused to give it to me, he counter-cantered the rollback every time. And if we landed the lead he swapped.” Or “I ASKED him not to do the lead change but he swapped to the counter lead and back on the straight line. Twice.” And she was right. She did ask. She asked correctly. But Tip was in finals mode, and he believed that she did not understand the test. He understood the test and he would execute it.

Bless the equitation horses.

Anyway, he’s retired and he doesn’t have to deal with my nonsense anymore.

What a lovely story!

I suspect we aren’t the only ones who do this  I picked up the habit from my old boss who would set every finals course after she got back and torture us. Typically a lower height and all without stirrups.

I will be judging in Raleigh, and I can;t get the feed to ever work on my phone…sigh

We can’t possibly be. But I really had to, after all the time I spent running my mouth the day before about how the test wasn’t really that hard and kids these days aren’t riding a correct half turn on the haunches or whatever. Gotta put up or shut up.

This actually just reminded me that I did the same exact thing with the…eq challenge? At DIHP this past DC.

All I remember now is on the long side (of the giant GP ring) riders had to jump a single vertical from a halt (from a long distance away) and then get the horse back to do trot pole. So many people butchered it and I was floored. I’m talking cantered into the trot poles, skipped trot poles, etc. bad.

So naturally I set it up in my tiny arena and did it.
