COTH did an article about

And another article, by Eventing Nation - this one goes into more detail and was lovely!

The fall was broadcast on the live stream since they were one of the favorites and were going really well . It was awful to watch.
I just love London 52. Such an amazing test. I always think of his winter antics when I see how composed and lovely be can be for dressage. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0zFRhHtsIr/?igsh=ZG84ZHZ4N3B2eHVw
If you mean the Peacock subscription, it’s worth the cost to me. I tried the cheaper plan and am one who can’t stand commercials. Immediately switched.
(You’ll still get them in the LIVE coverage. But not in the Replay.)
The Peacock subscription is excellent. I’m currently in Europe and we use it via VPN to watch, no ads on the replay btw!
Lots of fun today. The test itself is bananas, on the TV camera angles they seem to meander around in the middle for ages semi randomly then abruptly stop and it’s over. I had to watch about 14 horses go to understand it. Love watching the French riders in particular, I love how they ride and Lucinds even called it out. I personally thought the first rider, Julia Krajewski, had the best test - I’m sure hearts sank watching her go! Caroline Pamucku won lots of fans here with her ride, people were like “who is this? why has she not ridden for the us before?”. The Chinese rider with the dark bay mare also got a big fan club after their great ride in the pouring rain. Such a nice pair.
Haven’t seen it mentioned here but the scoring seemed very inconsistent to us, especially on the centerline, halt and reinback and changes. Laura Collett had a nice test certainly but was it that much nicer? And a a few riders like Austin O’Connor were marked down much more heavily than other riders with the same mistakes.
Will someone please give a play by play of U.S. riders X-Country rides, for those of us not watching live?
It would be much appreciated.
Dressage scoring is really subjective and varies throughout the day - it’s a disadvantage to go early, for sure. But if you look at the scoring, there are 2 at <20, a bunch at <30, and most of everyone else is in the 30s. Plenty of room for x-country to make a big difference.
It really bugged me that John(?) the commentator kept emphasising which riders and teams were in “medal” positions without acknowledging that the next day is likely going to shake things up a lot. Recall that it rained all day today - what did that do to tomorrow’s track?
I was just looking at the start list for xc, and it appears Italy has activated their reserve rider to replace the one eliminated for blood in the mouth.
I’m also not loving the x-country course - hope it rides better than it looks. From (only) the pictures it’s lovely, but way too many ways a horse can get hung up if it doesn’t completely understand/negotiate the question. I really hope I’m wrong.
I see the Chinese have withdrawn their vey nice mare.
Good Morning fellow early birds.
Weather looks lovely there today.
Hoping for a safe ride for all.
Against my better judgement, I’m awake and watching! Go Julia!
Same…it’s super brutal on PST. This is a super lovely horse
They’re making the early part of the course look like a breeze.
That 2nd water looks super hard - Julia made it look like a training exercise
of course, I want the US to do well, but after watching Hoof Dreams, I want Julia to finish ahead of Michi. I don’t know if he had anything to do with the transfer of Chipmunk, but I wish her the best.
Look at the crowds! It is riding nicely and looks beautiful.
Her horse is so lovely. The replay really showed how well the horse reads this jumps. Also looks like a blast to ride
I’m wondering if out trailblazer riders are making it look deceptively easy. I’m also not liking how Nickel is jump right now. He was reaching with his front feet.
no jumping penalties, but she had time. She was moving right out too.
I think Shane’s going to have a fair amount of time. He’s been adjusting his speed a lot.
