Eating cake and pulling an all nighter here on the west coast…
Almost seemed like a dressage + xc time competition after the first team rotation - super disappointed for both Jonelle and Caroline with their run-outs. The direct routes really don’t seem to be too challenging for most of the field.
And just when I type that… the German rider comes off.
Eventing!
I’m not sure why the rails aren’t painted white or something? Especially being in the woods the horses just aren’t reading it. What a shame.
that stupid little ditch should never have been on this course - it is like a trick - not fair to expect horses to properly read a training level fence, at a 4* event.
i wonder whether any concerns were raised by the riders when they walked the course
Go Karl and Bobo!!!
Making me nervous for our next team rider…
well, she will be aware, so PAY ATTENTION!!!
Ditches like that are so tough, if the horse doesn’t respect it enough they just put their hind legs in as it’s not wide enough to properly jump. I had the same issue when my horse was moving up the levels, he didn’t really jump up and over until Prelim so I can only imagine what these horses think!
So, the Germans are out of team medals!
Well, the 2nd rotation has only just started and as we can see, anything can happen even to the top riders!
Gutted for Christoph Wahler. Wow, that changes things.
On no… I really hope that’s just a sprung shoe.
DANG!! Australia out of team medals too!
Oh no Don Quidam lame oh no Australia and the poor horse hope he’s OK.
ut oh! Kevin is off, so australia’s team is out…
Same he looked so sore bless him.
what happened to Kevin - “simple” rider fall or horse injury?
Kevin. I did not see the fall. He looked to be going great
He was off Don Quidam in one of the galloping lanes and checking out a front leg. Horse looked quite sore.
They said it was a fall but nothing on why it happened
jon sez Kevin fell, so hopefully not the horse.
