2024 WEF Saturday Night Grand Prix Thread

And now two Irishmen in a row in!

How did I forget Teddy Vlock went to the Olympics until this second?

Yesss Kent!!! Greya is lovely!

That’s three Irishmen, two Americans, and a Belgian for the jump off

Off to a tough start this evening. True 5* course!

ETA: two horses in the first five have had the first fence down!

I just tuned it - what happened with Margie?

I think she had the first down, a plank, then a foot in the water and retired.

Got it! Thanks.

One thing I thought was funny was that the qualifying class took place in horrendous weather. Maybe the first three or four horses stayed dry, and then it absolutely poured down rain after that. Eventually they had a rain delay for about an hour before they started up again, and quite a few people scratched.

But the funny part was that the winner and three more in the top ten were Irish riders. So maybe they’ve just had a lot more practice in that weather. Lol.

With 4 in the jump off, my bet is on Shane since he’s going last. Would love to see a win for Luciana though!

And it’s Luciana!! Yess!!!

Looks like a decent 4* course tonight! Lucy Davis with the first clear.

Tuning in before the class at 7:30, the pre-show was going over statistics for some of the horse/rider pairs. They used the below graphics. I cannot figure out the % statistic for clear round and four fail or better. I’m reading it as Laura and Ben each have four faults or better less than 1% of the time with those mount. That cannot be correct. Am I misreading this?

Yeah, I noticed that. I think they showed the decimal value rather than the percent (multiply by 100), but showed it as the percent.

Okay that makes a lot of sense!

This error made the statistician in me itch lol…

Excited for tonight! Sounds like the course is meaty.
