Because of the bid by jumpqh, which is somewhere at or above $4001. Basically it’s showing that Sweetyness’s max amount is exhausted and that’s why jumpqh is now winning. Notice these entries both happened at the same time.

Bidders have entered their maximum. The program is incrementing each bidder to be the highest, until they reach their max.

If it only takes $1 to overbid the max amount chosen by Sweetyness, that’s what the program will do.

Whoever controls the program also controls the bidding increments. Minimum increments of $10 or $50 are much better, IMHO. The $1 increments drive me crazy when someone decides “well ok I’ll give another dollar and maybe that will be over the other bidders’ max”.

I did think the auto bid would also use $250 since that’s the minimum increment when entering a new bid by hand. But apparently it does just enough to be ahead even if that’s $1. OR the max bid entered by jumpqh happened to be exactly $4001 ($251 over the prior high bid). I guess we’ll find out if anyone bids higher.

I was just reading the copy for Falcon on the auction site and got an error code and got kicked out. I noticed it says he’s located in Austin, TX. I assume he’s talking about himself if the horse is still in Montana.

Yeah, I saw that earlier. I would hope… truly hope… that someone (previous owner or someone who knows Falcon in Montana) has already made a firm offer to Cereal at a reasonable price. But he’s trying the auction route to see if he can get more.

Knowing the way he views himself and his “accomplishments” I imagine his reserve is around 10K. But I could be wrong.

Since (so far) there is no automatic overbid, that doesn’t really tell us if the reserve was met … or even if there is a reserve entered in the system.

We don’t know what the reserve price is just that it hasn’t been met. It’s right on the listing:

Reserve price has not been met.

As much as I hate the idea of Cereal getting a single cent, that’s how much I love the thought that Falcon will be out of his hands forever.

That’s a reasonable price. Perhaps it’ll nudge a little higher by auction’s end.

I’m glad Falcon will have a new home where I hope he’s loved and appreciated. May he never have to do a Rite of Passage Family Saga Vision Quest for a Poser Man Child ever again.

Fingers crossed for a soft landing for Falcon!

If he’s willing to let Falcon go for $5k, I’m hoping that’s a sign that he may have given Pete away. To a good home. That is what I will hope.

Somebody must have put some numbers in front of his face of what it will cost to winter over Falcon at least, perhaps Pete as well. Or, don’t pay, and loose them altogether. And there have been no serious offers to buy for “real money”.

$5k to get Falcon off the bill must have finally looked like a good idea. Maybe he finally comprehended that it was this, or nothing.
