@2dogsfarm, I had really forgotten about Ragtime, cowboy Joe, and it really does seem to fit. Thanks!
My Mom used to sing both.
And played a C/W station on her car radio.
She grew up in MN
After a small quiet period, it seems Cyril hitched a ride to Wyoming and has begun his journey again. He was spotted in Opal, WY on Sunday according to this TikTok.
https://www.tiktok.com/@the_mare_stare/video/7236031805076426026
He canāt even argue that heās conditioning as he goes anymore. Heās likely trailered 1k miles into rough terrain to restart his cowboy dreams since getting out of Texas was proving to be difficult. Just gross and absolutely gross of anyone helping him at this point.
Is he at least admitting that he got trucked that distance?
I was unable to read the circled text w/o loading TikTok (NTYVM), but from what little I saw it sounds like Old Pete is losing what soundness he had to begin āneck stretched, trying to stopā
Of course, Cereal is clueless
He hasnāt. He was just spotted about 1k miles away from his last known location and the math isnāt there unless Shiok/Falcon suddenly grew wings! Iām actually wondering how he is going to spin this for his video updates.
He needs to give up for everyones sake. He should have tried the AT with his own two feet.
Yabbut, whereās the Cowguy Mystique in that?
Unlessā¦ He does a solo version of The Donner Party
He could wear his hat and boots and janky spurs! Then all the real thru hikers would know
My Cereal Haiku attempt:
Here lies Cereal
Tried a Donner with his heart
Found he had none, end
Thanks for the link @Belmont. He has to be trailering. There is no way he could have covered that much ground otherwise. He has only been MIA for about 5 days. Its less than a 1000 miles in between. Hopefully the horses at least got to rest a bit.
@2DogsFarm The outlined part is the last paragraph. And you are 100% right, poor Old Pete canāt keep up.
To me, it looks like the hardest part is a head of him. He still has some pretty big mountain ranges to get around/through.
I expect the next report will have Pete collapsing.
Iāve seen a young horse collapse & die from stress.
At least itās quick.
Well, thatās in another dry, unpopulated area, and pretty high altitude (7,000 feet), heading into mountains.
If it is, indeed, himāand not a tough Cowboy Mystique fulfilling his Destiny wannabe wannabe.
Iām not following Knucklehead other than this thread, is he thinking (is he thinking?) heās coming through MT? He jogged (trailered) a lot more east than I thought he would.
Oh, you had to dredge that up, didnāt you?
Whoa dogies! What is the validation for this other than a TT video and āsomeone sawā something that appeared to be him?
Call me cynical, but I donāt believe anything without a LOT more proof than that. The evidence doesnāt have to be 100% CSI. But āsomebody saidā doesnāt get me there.
I have no doubt whatsoever that Whatsis would absolutely hop a trailer ride north. If so then I hope it was a nice trailer for the horses.
And if it is true, it could be that Pete breaking down is a reason he trailered on ahead.
But if it is true, heās not just in Wyoming, heās in northern Wyoming. As Iāve been saying, the gauntlet that was northwest Texas is/was the easy part compared with whatās coming.
(Ancient western cowpuncher slang, cattle were called ādogiesā pronounced ādoh-geesā with a hard āgā. Rhymes with āstogiesā with a hard āgā.)
A faster pace on the song than Iām used toā¦ or that dogies would move toā¦ but the right sound. Those songs were to keep the cattle calm and moving along and this one is a little too fast for a good day ha ha I always thought dogies were calves and not cows but I might not be correct.
Calves and young cattle, not yet fully grown ā you are probably right about that. āGit along little dogies, itās your misfortune and none of my own.ā We were taught just the chorus to that when I was a little kid, along with several other folk songs. Kids think the sound of it is fun.
I think the dogies were the mostly grown but not really mature cattle. Calves would not be old enough for a cattle drive of that length.
Posted on reddit as well ā¦

Hello! If anyone here doesnāt know, some narcissist tech bro from Austin TX bought a horse in hopes of riding it from TX to the coast without any conditioning. Obviously this went poorly, the horse has been visibly deteriorating. I really donāt know much about the situation past that, to be honest.
ANYWAYS. I just drove past them at 11:48 am in Wyoming, they were 5 miles out from Opal heading towards the Idaho boarder.
This is all fine and good, but, holy fuck?! Firstly, he had another horse with him. Secondly, the other horse looked about ready to collapse. It was a red skinny thing with a bright orange blanket, it was dragging itsā entire hind end, and itās neck was fully extended with the halter/lead rope literally pulling it at a slow walk. It looked awful. Really, really awful. Who gave him a second, worse horse?!
But the point of this being: does anyone know who to contact? Can anyone help? I donāt know much about this, I havenāt been following it, so I have no clue on who to reach out to if anyone. When I saw them on the side of the road I was so shocked I barely had time to think āholy shit, that horse looks dead on itās feetā before I realized who it was.
Please let me know if you have any information. That red horse made Falcon look fat and sound by comparison. I just feel so bad.
Another reddit thread of the same post, with a lot of comments, if it matters.

As the thread cynic, I am sorry, but pictures or it didnāt happen.
Maybe this person truly spotted them in northern Wyoming.
But maybe they didnāt.
It would be a classic internet troll move to stir everyone up, get 100++ comments, and it was all attention-seeking fiction. A fiction that lives in many peopleās memories and clouds the real story from that day on.
I am expecting a de-bunking, even if it doesnāt come for days.
But if it is true then at least the horses got a ride for a big stretch of the journey. Although they need another ride to the destination. Maybe thatās in the cards.
