“injured and aged stock” aren’t qualified for slaughter. FYI ponies and foals are also not qualified.
True slaughter shippers need healthy, well-fleshed animals with a clean record of sale to get past the inspectors . That’s true at the Mexico border as well. Their meat inspectors require documentation. (Yes some docs might be flawed.)
There are pens along the border holding horses that are too ill or lame to cross to slaughter. Many end up euthed. A loss to the shipper.

I can’t help it though, because those of us who know the seriously dramatic lyrics of the original song, as well as the silly interpretation by the Smothers brothers, realize that it is the perfect contrast, between what this self styled "cowboy " ignoramus would like people to think of him, and what he really is.

I didn’t say theses horses weren’t carrying enough weight to be worth meat price.
The kill pen has a lot of aged Belgians along with horses sporting injuries/deformities that stopped them being useful for farm work or riding.
Including a friend’s 5yo homebred Andalusian (her stallion) cross (TB mare) she’d hoped to bring along to Prix StG Dressage - as she had with the stud. Mare developed an incurable lameness, friend needed money…

I’m just hoping that somehow, a miracle happens and the horses both get a soft landing without him gaining anything at all.

The latest posts I saw, from someone who spent 20 minutes around him at a campground in St. Regis, Montana, said he was a rude jerk the whole time, letting a 7-year-old and his friend take the horses off and that the horses were thin, filthy, dehydrated and smelled really bad. Sigh…

St Regis is getting pretty close to Spokane and the Washington border. Should be done soon, if it isn’t already. I had hoped the horses would regain some health with their layover, not an encouraging assessment of them.

Yea, and she is screaming for the locals in the area and her followers to call local LEO. She drives me nuts. I commented on that post asking what LEO could seriously do and that Wes fellow replied to me. “he’s breaking laws” another replied to me telling me that LEO doesn’t know that they (leo) are doing and are useless. I find that hard to believe. Apart of expired coggins/health papers, brand inspection avoiding at state lines and having thin, overworked, lame horses. (and people work lame and thin horses all the time, we don’t like it, but it happens just not in a public setting). What crime is he actually commiting?
I feel (my opinion) that they are not in rough enough shape for any LEO or animal control to do anything. And her rallying her troops so to speak is just going to make him mad and it would not surprise me if he catches wind and crys martyr because his destiny was disrupted from the ‘armchair jockeys behind a keyboards should mind their own business’.
Are the boys in rough shape, yes. Do I want them in Cereal’s care, no; I don’t want any living being under his care.
This whole thing is nearly over. I keep watching his IG and he posted stories last night of him on Falcon riding.
PS. I have no clue where the footage comes from that Mare Stare finds, is he posting on other SM channels?

To be so harassed, especially by women, would be a dream come true for him. Mix in LE and he’s got a good story. The lone maverick vs. the modern world etc. His only flaw is his sense of adventure and being too macho for the modern world etc.

This latest post and at least one other on the mare stare came, I believe, from a Save Falcon hotline she advertises on her TikTok stuff.
I wonder if it would’ve been better to have ignored him entirely?

He is riding Falcon and ponying Pete and Pete is trailing behind by the end of his lead rope with his head up. Picture Artax being pulled out of the swamp of sadness sans bit and bridle by Atreyu from the Neverending Story. Head up, neck convex, not comfortable.

Got it. Guess I went right to Cereal allowing some of his road posse to hop on the horses for joy rides. 
Poor Pete. I really feel sorry for that old horse. He seems like the sort of horse that gets used up because he has too good of a temperament to quit, even when he’s sore. The fact that Cereal is trying to wring several grand out of him, rather than just giving him a pat on the neck for a job well done and giving him to a nice retirement home, just makes me hate the stupid poser all the more.

Ya know … If Bozo really, truly thought he was going to make millions (millions!) off the video and stories of this ride … wouldn’t he also think he owed the horses something? As said, a beautiful retirement? A wonderful protected home? A slice of the millions would have provided that for them.
Of course he probably knows by now that millions aren’t coming, after all. But still.

It’ll be a fine day when the reality of life finally smacks him in the face.
Despite his grand plan of cultivating minor celebrity status through social media, and garbing himself in the time honored look of an American cowboy, he will still be a derpy nobody that will be forced to get a regular ol’ job like everyone else.
