If Mom and Dad are separated, I can guess why.

Here is some information posted on another “Stop C…” Page.

his family is from Canada. His mom still lives there. His dad owns Tropical Valley Foods in New York. He owns a house in Austin making him a “Texan”. The house was purchased in 2021, I think or last year.

So, I’m also not buying.

Perhaps others wouldn’t want to either, if they knew that the family condones animal abuse.

I was being tongue in cheek, no one should be PPEing this horse with a future career in mind. I hope this horse sees nothing but pasture and easy living, maybe some kid’s pony rides, in his future.

I personally would and have done PPEs on horses coming here as companions so I can establish my vet and farrier plan using those baseline findings. And unfortunately had to walk away from a potential companion that had metabolic issues too complex to manage in my farm setup, which is 24/7 turn out and communal hay. I think anyone wanting Pete even to retire him would be smart to PPE to understand what kind of hoof care he needs, and if they can provide that. Would be tragic for someone else with no clue to take him and continue to ignore or exacerbate his problems.

Maybe on the planet he’s from? :ringer_planet::flying_saucer::alien:

From the article link posted above … some of it is so sloppily written as to basic facts, everything needs verification if it isn’t quoting an LE report. But it does have an interesting view on how this ride is ending.

" … abandoned his trip on Aug. 4th just short of Seattle … "

"… Texas native … " he’s not

This quote I believe was said as quoted, though - “I’ve put both these guys through hell and high water, and they’ve passed with flying colors. Both these guys are bombproof. Both these guys love to work.” This is to justify his sales price.

On July 27, officers responded to a call from a concerned individual who had spotted Bertheau in Cataldo, a town 60 miles east of Spokane, and requested a check from Animal Control, partially redacted records from the sheriff’s office show.

“I also observed Pete to have a large open/oozing and swollen saddle sore approx 4 inches long on his right rib cage, and his left hind fetlock was significantly swollen,” one officer wrote, adding that Pete was lame in his rear right foot.

On top of the misdemeanor, officers issued him a verbal warning for not providing proof of ownership, though they noted they did confirm Pete’s ownership by calling his prior owner. Bertheau also agreed to take the horses to a vet for treatment, telling officers he had decided to end his trip before reaching his final destination, according to the police report.

“He stated he was changing his plans to end his trip in Spokane instead of Seattle, and would be taking some time to rest the horses until Pete’s foot and saddle sore healed enough to finish the ride from the current location to Spokane,” the officer wrote. “I did not observe any intentional animal cruelty at this time.”

I was being tongue-in-cheek also, while targeting some folks who seem to be assuming that potential buyers all had immediate riding use intended.

Of course a horse with known problems should be seen by a vet to determine what those problems really are, what, if any, special treatment should be done and, of course, suitability for intended use, whether performance, companion, pasture pet, or whatever.

It doesn’t. Trust me, not everyone living in Texas wants to claim the title “Texan”.

He doesn’t have the Texas roots for it. He. Was. Not. Born. Here. I don’t know how long he has lived in Austin, it sounds like a few years at amost.

Transplants who do want to dive in used to say “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.” I’m not sure that’s why CB ended up in Austin. My guess would be that he needed a job in a field where Austin is hiring voraciously. Plus there is a healthy entertainment industry in Austin that may have interested him. If my speculation is correct, he could have ended up anywhere – maybe even Seattle.

His work history (Linked In) shows Texas employment as a dispatcher at the trucking firm for 1 yr 6 mos. Prior to that short stints with Amazon and Dr. Pepper distribution, neither in TX. The co-founder puff about Kibysis Tech. is the proposal he created while at McGill. It was a 10 week entrepreneur workshop where the teams come up with launching proposals, with grant money for the winner. Which he was not.

In what universe is the outskirts of Spokane “just short of Seattle” though?

I haven’t been able to find any ads for the horses. I wonder if he’s going to put them through an auction. Isn’t there one in Montana or thereabouts in September?

So the articles referring to him as a “tech bro” were about as real as his horemanship skills.

Looking at his LinkedIn info, he went to college in Canada and has only been in this country (work history) for 2 years.

I checked back through posts, and he officially ended his Ancestral Quest Mystical Magical Rite of Passage on 8/4, the same day he was stopped at the Washington state line by LE. He left there with the horses in a trailer, after a FU dance at the person who recorded Jeerios at the LE stop and horse evaluation, which was late in the day.

So, didn’t make Seattle, didn’t make Spokane, barely set a foot into Washington state.

Kinda says “Fail” to me. Puffed Cheat.
