3 boxes of Thoroughbred Record Magazines (1950-80) FTGH!

Perhaps I should have put this in Giveaways - but thought breeders might be interested…

3 large boxes of TR Magazines free to good home. 2 boxes are in pristine condition. 3rd is dusty and some pages are torn/missing.

Pick up only.

Maybe you could get someone in PA to pick them up for you??? And then scan and send the scans to me???

I’ll go in with you on the shipping.

What about FedEx prepaid pick-up? You’d just need to add shipping tape and an address and the person paying shipping would arrange for pickup via Fed Ex. Note: I don’t want them, just throwing this idea out there as a possible option so they get them to someone who wants them but isn’t local. It would be a shame for all that info to get lost.

Three decades of magazines via FedEx might be edging into the “ridiculous” side of pricing, but I’d spec it out!

Media mail would probably make the most sense. I would love to have them! Viney, I’d need to pick up a scanner

I have an all in one printer that works quite nicely for scanning.

Media mail would be the cheapest. We have found that fedex ground is cheaper than regular mailed USPS packages.

Before you send them to any recycle bin, I’d consider two things, though both require a little work.

  1. List them on Ebay, you might be surprised at what someone would pay.
  2. Contact the racing museums in Saratoga and Kentucky - they might be interested in receiving them as donation…

I was a young teen racing addict back in the early 60’s and subscribed to that magazine for quite a number of years.

OK - thanks for the suggestions.

But please keep in mind -
No (read as 0!) time to deal with Ebay. Ditto any Museums, Foundations, Historical Groups. (that’s why they are free)

I’m trying to work with Simkie re: shipping but am up to my ears in packing for FL. If someone else wants to go for $ or historical preservation - have at it. Or coordinating shipping to her. There are not enough hours in a day to do everything and ride the horses and battle the elements.

FWIW 2 additional boxes of TR Yearbooks from the same timespan have also been unearthed in the big house and are up for rehoming.

For those who may not know The Thoroughbred Record became the Thoroughbred Times with a complete make over when Peter Brant bought in in the 80’s.
I maybe wrong but I believe it predates The Bloodhorse.

If there is anyone who’s in the area who’s not interested in the magazines or yearbooks, but does have some time to help Tasker get everything to the post office, I can pay you a bit for your time and trouble  I would seriously just LOVE to have these for my racing library.

Simkie and Viney – I’m moving to Fort Collins in the next 6 weeks or so. I have a great scanner and the time to do it (just retired yesterday.) Simkie, if you get these, I volunteer to come pick up a batch at a time, scan them for Viney, and return them to you for the next batch.

Hello all:

I just saw this.

I am a couple hours west of Tasker. I am interested AND have a scanner. I do not have a ton of time right now, but would love to get these, scan & make copies available to others.

Tasker - how quickly do they need to be picked up? PM me & maybe we can arrange something?

Kim

Heard from Tasker that Gumtree is picking up the mags and the yearbooks
