30-day notice. WWYD?

$3K! I live in a high COL area and that’s expensive even here. Why was it so costly? And that’s a huge bill for a non-contact boarding situation.

Last barn I left was a challenge.

Gave 45 days notice, was told at the the time that they were closing the boarding side of the business anyway and still would not pro-rate the last month of board. Also got billed for a bunch of BS charges for the last (partial) month. It was my first bad experience leaving a farm, and hopefully my last bad experience.

Lots of other drama involved with the place, so maybe should not be surprised, but still left a very bad taste in my mouth after 3 years at the farm. I won’t claim to be a easy boarder, since pretty much everyone who claims to be a no fuss boarder with a bad situation is a big part of the problem. But I truly was - out of state owner with a retiree that lived out. I paid my board on time and never visited. Did not have any crazy requests - in fact it got to be pulling teeth to even get a photo of him from them more than every couple of months.

I board now with one of the posters on this thread and it is such a lovely relief to know my horse is being taken care of and I’m not considered a nuisance.
