I’ve got a very round horse I use a treeless on (it has adjustable panels and good spinal clearance). I have struggled to find a pad combo that won’t roll and while I am seeking a dixie-midnight pad to throw under our current set-up, I also know the less thick a pad is the better for the round horses.
Anyone have any experience with the 5 star treeless?
Pads I’ve tried:
Skito with 3/4" was too much pad for him and bouncey (found one used made for a Cheyenne that was a great footprint match and re-sold).
HAF 8200 with 3/4" built in inserts made the saddle perch.
Ghost wool pad didn’t sit right once the inserts were removed.
Christ pad added too much bulk under me.
Matrix endurance with no inserts removed has been the best fit thus far, but I find wool in general on him gets super slick and this is woolback (one reason I want the dixie-midnight). I do plan to add inserts back in, but it changes how my knee feels in relation to the twist becoming wider (apparently I’m just sensitive to it).
