5 star vs oxbow saddle pads

What can you tell me? Currently I am riding in a 5 star pad and I love it!!! I’ve never ridden with an oxbow saddle pad and am curious about the advantages and disadvantages.

I’ve never even heard of Oxbow.

I use 5 Star.

Call me crazy, but I cannot fathom why the 5 stars pads are worth upwards of $500? Surely they are not made from gold plated sheep. What’s with the outrageous price?

IKR - if the saddle fits good, you shouldn’t need all that.

Never heard of Oxbow, but you would have to pry my 5 Star out of my cold dead hands, I love that thing.

Where are you getting $500? I’ve never seen a 5 Star anywhere near that price. Some of the thicker ones will be close to $300 if you add on various custom leather or colors, but honestly, if your saddle fits well you do not need a thick pad.

The quality is exceptional and they hold up to hard use. That’s why I like them and why I’m willing to spend $200 on one.

I bought my second 5 star this weekend. I had a 3/4", and bought a 7/8" for about $230. They can be higher if you add cow hide accents, etc.

I’ve never heard of Oxbow brand. I also bought a Diamond Wool pad this weekend, I’ll compare those. :stuck_out_tongue:

They cost that in Ontario :frowning: I would consider one if it cost closer to $200.

Interesting. Even with the conversion, it still shouldn’t be $500.

Dang.
