50 Icelandic horses up for adoption

I saw this on Fugly. These horses are in good shape, just not handled much:

Icelandic horses are quite awesome.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh:)

I suppose I am lucky they are all the way on the otherside of the country…

Need to remind myself: I am MOVING, no more pets NOT A ONE!!!

Awww my friend has 4 Icelandic ponies that she imported. Awesome laid back ponies and very very comfortable to ride. Easy keepers too. :D:yes:

I had the pleasure of riding one when I visited Iceland last year. I could not believe how smooth my girl’s trot was with those quick little legs! No posting required.

I’m not sure about their breeding but this could be quite the opportunity, especially if you live in the mountains!

It wasn’t so very long ago that these horses started at $5000/head and went up.

Wow, I once worked at an Icelandic farm in Canada. Those little horses were awesome animals but…I have seen a few here in the south and must say, they dont fair nearly as well in our heat and humidity. They are not made for it for sure.

A foal started at $6000 in my day.

I’ve always wanted one (five gaited and all that) so I’m keeping an eye on this. Yes, they are all the way on the other side of the country, but a gal can dream.

If only they weren’t the whole darn way across the country!

I am looking to rescue two Icelandics . Can someone tell me about these?

The thread is 9 years old. Presumably all rehomed by now.

At least they did not mention the 52 thoroughbreds.
