$500 just to look? WTF?

Thanks…

i don’t think there was even that much planning, they just left a gate open when they went to the store to get another bottle of irish whiskey for their irish coffee…
they used the word “exposed” to explain those “accidental” super breedings…

Would you want to board your mare there?
I’m kind of surprised that NOT ONE of the buyers of those 1000 horses sold per year has come here to post about his/her (positive OR negative) experience with the seller. Where are the hordes of happy new owners?

Hate to rain on your little parade

But those people are extremely well known in Virginia and have a very reputable business as well as very healthy horses for sale.

Damaging someone’s business as well as their reputation and impinging on their ability to earn a living is no laughing matter.

Knock it off.

I may be a newbie on this board, but not so new to horses in general (30+ years experience). J Swan, in my pre-posting lurk mode, I’ve respected many of your opinions, but I have to say, if these are reputable people, what’s up with the marketing tactics and lack of tact? That’s just not very appealing or professional, and honestly, I’ve never heard of such a thing as paying $500 up-front to check out a prospective purchase, nor discouraging a pre-purchase exam, and the Coggins thing? The dig at 40-something, overweight women is totally uncalled for, especially since there were several photos of fairly large girls on those Draft-X’s. Not to mention charging to groom the horse, load the horse, etc…Doesn’t sound at all legit to me. JMHO.

Actually, I have alerted a moderator.

Yes, I’m serious. Complaining about a business practice is fine - but these people conduct sales over the net - their site is down due to harrassment - they can not conduct their business unless it stops.

If you don’t care for the way they do business, then don’t do business with them. They will either change the way they do business or go out of business.

But the nature of this thread and its result - the shutting down of a business site - is tortuitous interference, the public accusations of felonious activity - yeah - you can’t do that and then hide behind a BB moniker, and there are limits to free speech.

These people also advertise in the COTH magazine, as well as other respected publications.

One of these days you’re going to click on this URL and it will be gone. It’s a free site - COTH is not obligated to offer it if their subscribers and advertisers get crucified - and they get to pay towards that dubious honor with their advertising dollars.

And I do plan on contacting COTH - the publication - and letting them know that.

Ironwood Farm - I’m very surprised you would engage in this behavior. If people on the net targeted you and you lost business or your business reputation suffered - methinks you would be none too pleased either.

If that is a “reputable” farm, maybe we shouldn’t allow people to have horses. I would much rather buy them straight from Canada than have them touch my horse.

The things they posted on their website are UNPROFESSIONAL end of story. Make all the excuses you want, it is very disrespectful and rude.

Personally, I wouldn’t let this lady breathe near my horses. How many of those 1,000 sold each year go to slaughter?

Ya, those chopped up video clips are very professional…how many times do you think their “professional” rider fell off trying to get those clips?

Someone needs to contact COTH and notify them them they have an advertiser doing blatantly illegal activities. I’m sure they don’t want someone like that in their magazine.

The site isn’t even down. Only the ridiculous policies have been removed and the horses misidentified as Canadian Sport Horses.

Would a reputable person state her intention to doctor a Coggins by removing information?

Like I said - if you don’t like the way they run their business, that’s fine. Accusations of criminal conduct, forcing them to take down their site - or purposefully helping to crash the servers…

Let’s just say you’re on very very thin ice - and since I live right down the road from COTH, as do these people, as do many other advertisers and subscribers… chances are the nice folks at COTH are going to be getting a lot of phone calls on Monday.

Nut cases - in my opinion!!

This has to be a sick joke! Why would anyone go to the trouble of putting all this bull++++ in writing?? It’s hard enough to get buyers and sell horses when you’re NICE. I couldn’t even bother to read more than the highlights - it made me want to scream! Is this supposed to be an improvement on marketing and selling horses? Their guaranteed buyers are most likely killers!!!

As I said - this business is well known in Virginia. It is perfectly legal.

You would be wrong in your assertion about the “killer buyers”.

I think I will give these folks a call right now.

SHAME ON ALL OF YOU

SHAME

Since you adamantly defend them as professional and reputable, please tell us facts to back it up. I am interested in hearing. We are posting about facts, they resorted to childish comments on their policies, admitted to illegal practices, and lied about the registry of their horses. Those are FACTS.

If you have dealt or know them personally tell us what really goes on. Why does she not allow PRE-purchase exams, what discipline did her “professional” rider work in before coming to the farm, where does she liquidate her horses, and why did she falsely advertise her horses?

Maybe there are logical explanations, please educate us. I’m not saying there aren’t diamonds in the rough at the farm or nice horse underneath, just stating there are illegal and unprofessional actions occuring.

Really? Where do you get the authority to proclaim it as such?

why the edit?

J Swan

Why did you edit?

First it was “this is a legal matter now…NO” to now just the NO.

what was the purpose of first annoucing that it was a “legal matter” then taking that off?

Sorry if i didnt get the exact quote correct but i just think this whole thing is odd…
