$500 just to look? WTF?

Ah, but if I remember correctly, you were the one who told everyone to start calling Ms. Booth and ask her the questions posed on this discussion.

5… (edited to add: Ack! Already over 1000!)

Definintely one of the most entertaining threads I’ve ever read!

Looks like

you can post over 1000;) but I took another look at the policy page and it’s changed QUITE a bit. http://www.virginiasporthorses.com/product_info.php/cPath/55/products_id/618?osCsid=55b52c6d57113fec39f8997b45056180

Good thinking Liz!

1000!!!

but then Nothing. J Swan, did you get your stick thingy?

Shoot - it’s over 1000. I think I’m going to be sick.

Kelly - I did the same thing on another thread about an artist whose work could have been construed as exploitative taken out of context.

Folks were getting up in arms - speculating, accusing, etc. Know what I did? I emailed the guy - was polite, honest - and guess what. His company emailed me back, explained, showed me the work in context - it was actually quite moving.

We were all wrong about the examples of his work cited. There was an explanation. There was context. Was it art? I don’t know. But it wasn’t what folks thought it was - that’s for sure.

This thread could have benefitted from such a polite and honest phone call on - page 2. Pretty boring, though.

I think it already self sestructed on page one!

Amen to that!

Much Better.

Now that’s much better already…

and check out the “request counter” on the bottom right of that page. I think we created a world record for any on-line horse dealer.

I dont see ANY policies o n the page, only three examples (and JUST examples, mind you) of contracts. Are there amended policies listed???

And the sun went down beyond them as they rode into the risen dust.

The End.

Well, I tried to end the thread

I asked Erin to lock it, but for whatever reason she hasn’t. so I guess I’ll take this opportunity to restate MY (as the OP) original case

  1. a non-refundabledeposit is unheard of, at least to me. I can’t think of any type of sales-cars, real estate, etc, where this is done.

  2. Altering Coggins papers is unethical at best, if not illegal.

  3. Using scare tactics to keep buyers from going directly to the PMU farms isunprofressional to say the least. If she wants excusive rights to buy from or sell for these farms, she should negotiate that with the farms.

  4. Not allowing pre-purchase vetting is, again, unheard of. I can see no way in which it benefots anyone but the seller.

  5. I cannot see how she can claim concern for the welfare of the horses she sellson one hand while actively trying to discourage people fromcomingto seethe horses in person and pre-purchase vet exams. To do so increases the probability of someone ending up with an unsuitable horses which may very well end up being dumped.

Those would be great questions for VSH to answer, simply.
But the facts shall remain in the Twilight Zone…hey, wasnt that a GREAT marathon over the 4th!

Agreed. I would add that the horses are (a) mispresented as to breed/registry (fact); and (b) overpriced for what they are (opinion).

Well, sto sum up, it appears that NONE of the policies on that web site are “misleading”, she MEANS W HAT SHE SAYS. So, no “other side” to listen to. However, some people have abided by those policies and gotten purchases that they are happy with.

And to sum up, those policies on her web site are apprently COMPLETELY ACCURATE. No “misinterpretation” here, or “other side” to be gotten.

Funniest thing…I just stumbled onto this…quite by accident.

After 50-odd pages of thinking about this, it occured to me that LB is a “picture importer” executing a pyramid sales scheme. Hers is exactly the same business model as the GV scheme, only the draft crosses are coming from Canada rather than England/Ireland.
