7 horses go down in 7th at Del Mar

Does anyone have an update on the 7th (maiden claiming for fillies and mares) at Del Mar? #10 Sassy Chasey was in 3rd when she went down. Because so many horses went down, the race was cancelled and declared null and void.

Just before the 8th race, the announcer updated that all the horses were OK but 3 jockeys were being evaluated. The way Sassy Chasey went down, I doubt she was OK. You could see her stride falter and the jockey trying to balance her to keep her up. Watching online, I was only able to see 3 loose horses galloping at the end of the race.

Prayers for all involved.

Deleted my post because I realized I was repeating what you already knew. Doh! Failing to read for comprehension tonight!

From Britney Eurton on Twitter:

Was just told by track veterinarian, Dana Stead, that all horses involved in the incident in Race 7 are back at their barns and early reports indicate no serious injury.

ockeys Cesar Ortega, Emily Ellingwood, and Tyler Baze have been transported to La Jolla Scripps hospital for further evaluation. Will update as more information becomes available.

I hope it’s true and not just a P/R move. If you saw how #10 went down…

From DRF and sounds, IMO, plausible.

Sassy Chasey, the 10, didn’t break down but clipped heels.

All the jockeys and horses in the incident escaped serious injury, including Sassy Chasey.
