70s/80s Equitation Bucket thread

I love these saddles. I’d buy a Victor or a Champion to add to my saddle library if I found one.

Will you guys post about your favorites?

If I can get un-lazy, I’ll post pictures of my MacPherson… and maybe give the Broken Horn the intense luvin’/conditioning+cleaning it needs.

I notice many views and no replies to this thread… in days!

All I can infer here is that y’all hate these saddles. Insofar as I know you see them lying around-- good ones for low money-- I think you should be forwarding the links for those to me.

Well, I just now noticed this thread and, honestly, don’t have anything to contribute to it, other than explaining why some may also not have done so either.

I don’t quite know what you expect as responses?
Care to explain a bit better, show those pictures you seem to be posting about?

I don’t know if it counts as an Eq saddle, but I have an older Longhorn that I picked up cheap and used. I love it. Correct position and you DO NOT move. I wish I had discovered it sooner.

I love my Kathy’s show equipment reiner. It’s probably about 15 years old. I’d also love to have an early Roo Hide. 8-10 years old.

I have a Victor equitation, light oil, Oak tooling, minimal silver, a few scratches, I might consider parting with. It was my dream saddle when I got back into horses many yeas ago but the majority of my riding has changed to cow stuff so it is rarely used.

we had a western equ![](tation saddle that had been made in the early 1950s, the headstall that was made with it was rolled leather with silver (they were still using actual silver back then)

We have Morgans which are shorter backed than most QH, the equitation saddle was shorter, fitting our old style Morgans nicely

Unfortunately our old tack was stolen in the early 1990s
