Volunteers at Pony Club rallies do not require a background check. I can only imagine how impossible it would be find volunteers if that was a requirement. Who would pay for it? (Do not get me wrong here, I am not anti - safety, I am just expressing how difficult it would be to support this.)
I think about the rallies around here where we even beg the husbands into volunteering because we need more people to help.

Adult members of pony club also do no require background checks.

Imagine at a combined training event and the number of volunteers! Jump judges, runners, ring stewards, starters, etc. - having to background check volunteers at that level of participation and minimal athlete contact would make holding an event impossible.

Since he disappeared from the news after his arrest and extradition and I heard nothing further about him after his scheduled arraignment, I did some digging. He’s been locked up since he arrived in PA. Bail has been denied and he’ll be in court next month, after refusing to appear at his arraignment, which is why he slipped out of the headlines, as there was nothing to report in the news and inclement weather was knocking things around in that area, so attention was elsewhere. He’s facing four state felony charges from his drug dealing and distribution activities, one ungraded for dealing and distributing, one first degree for the death of the child, one first degree for organized crime activity, and one third degree felony for use of phone/Internet for his drug dealing and distribution. Franklin County wanted him, so the case was kicked over to their court from the district court.

I just wanted to give this a bump with the latest news. He was found guilty of four charges tied to drug distribution and will be serving a flexible 12-24 year prison sentence.

Wow. Interesting, thanks.

What does flexible mean in this context?

“Flexible” means that if he plays nice or makes no trouble, he gets out in 12. If he doesn’t, he gets the full 24, unless he gets out because the prison needs the room. Because of his age and physical frailty, he’s not someone who wants to be in prison nor is he someone that the prison system would really want around, due to care costs and such. The prisons are crowded with younger, more dangerous inmates as it is and they want the cells for murderers, rapists, etc. who are a clear and present danger, in the general sense. Combine that with his criminal background in the drug trade and information he could have that would aid in prosecution of others and you get a prime candidate for “Let’s Make A Deal: Prison Edition”.

Thanks.

thanks for the update Lex
