”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹KEOGH, THOMAS

Does anyone know who this guy is? He just popped up on the SS list. There is an article about him in the news referencing drug trafficking, but no mention of horses.

KEOGH, THOMAS COVENTRY, CT Equestrian 12/16/2019 12/16/2019 Criminal Disposition (Subject to Appeal) Ineligible Hunter

You expected a response within 3 minutes? I’d be a little more patient.

SS isn’t just about BNT! He could be any ammie or junior or back yard trainer or even retired but keeping a membership. Or an owner.

Sorry, vxf111. I was trying to edit my first comment for grammar, and didn’t realize that I had inadvertently started a whole new comment. Then I couldn’t figure out how to erase it. I will brush up on my posting skills—it’s been a while.

Maybe the #istandwithgeorge peeps will rally behind him, who ever he is.

He shows up on a USEF search as a non-competing fan member.

This guy?

Yes, @McGurk posted that link above.

He briefly had a barn at the location where Shallowbrook Equestrian Center is located. He seems to be a nobody and there is no real business or personal history available, beyond some limited and casual involvement with the industry in CT and therapeutic riding, so there isn’t much to tell without further investigation, which isn’t really possible. It’s quite possible that he has been involved in drug distribution and whatnot for years, as it’s not unheard of for horse businesses to be fronts for drugs and smuggling, as well as money laundering.

Could also have been the dad of a rider. Often parents get peripherally involved in the business. I do know one dad who bought his teenage daughter a farm but we figure he’s hoping she outgrows the horses so he can have a (now legal) marijuana grow op in the indoor arena eventually.

I dug up his Facebook and it’s nothing like that. He’s a gay man who apparently rode as a youth in the 60’s/70’s. He has some very age-inappropriate ties to much younger gay men - especially barely legal schoolboy types - and some of the names of those younger men under his Facebook posts match the names of arrests for drug possession and distribution arrests in areas he is known to be in. His day-job is that of a retail manager or something along those lines and he travels extensively to open and close stores, which provides him a cover for drug dealing and the opportunity to visit horse shows near wherever he is working. He is definitely a “scene guy” and may have been dealing at or near horse shows and other events like polo matches, where he could blend in discreetly as a spectator and social butterfly - a common thing for drug dealers to do - and not be watched in the slightest. A SafeSport ban won’t affect him in the slightest because he’s not involved in the sport, but he’s someone who should be expelled and ostracized from the social side of things and anyone who supports him should suffer the same fate.

So interesting!

Well, now that he’s been arrested on drugs im sure alot will change in his life. Is he the one whose drug dealing was blamed for the accidental death of a small child?

Yeah, he’s the head-honcho and according to the articles, the guy who got busted and ratted on him gave information that says he’s got a big money address in FL, likely with someone in or around the horse scene living there. Wanna wonder where that thread goes?

If he is attending shows as a means of distributing or making mule connections, he is involved with the show scene.

The second link I posted above shows him as the owner/operator of a barn in CT.

I’ve had some time to do some additional digging this weekend and it turns out that he has actually been working horse shows from top to bottom levels for many years, in various support roles, which lets him move around the showgrounds without anyone giving him or anyone he’s with a second glance. That’s a do-as-you-please setup for a drug dealer. According to what’s recorded about the shows, he bounces around from CT down the coast to FL, with a lot of his time being spent in PA/NJ. He’s also been involved in 4-H for many years.
