I love looking at pics of your horses! The ones of you with Bugs make me insanely jealous.

Bodhi has such a great mind for a 4 year old. Mickey the cat loves the horses, too, and is happy to sit on a warm back.

Thanks
“Things” piling up have meant I haven’t ridden Harley or driven Bugs in Ican’tremember :hushed:
I’m hoping a decent Spring will get me back to doing both.
Kouma is the only one whose routine has remained unchanged

Friend’s daughter. Barn show.

She’s 8.1 years old at the time. First ever blue ribbon after several of the monthly barn shows. She said later that, in that moment, she couldn’t believe she won.

She won on the strength of her sitting trot without stirrups, which the judge continued for several moments. She’s still no-stirrups in this pic. She was able to pull forward all of her practice to stay flexible and seatbones down on the saddle.

Horse is 16h schoolie btw, unknown breeding, hails from the Bowie horse auction.

To me, this photo is what horse shows are all about.

I love this photo. I have an almost identical one of me and my niece when she was about that size. She’s now 21 years old. I keep the photo framed in the living room. I will have to try and post a photo of mine. It is honestly almost identical!

My QH gelding Harley. This picture was from a few years ago. He turns 18 this year and is not nearly as gray. He is the best horse I’ve ever owned, a once in a lifetime horse.

2010 snow storm. I’d kept them in overnight, and let them out after breakfast. Rio was poking around empty stalls after the other 2 went out. It doesn’t take long to go around the corner up the hill and out of sight.

He realized they’d left him, so he raaaaan around the corner and up the hill calling for them

I miss him SO freaking much :frowning:

This is one of my favorite photos of my daughter and her pony jumper back in the day. Needless to say it was a very windy day and the fence blew down as they were going. They didn’t miss a beat and went on to win the class. We were thrilled that a friend had captured the moment.

Matt :joy: one of my ottb’s would drink like this. He even blew bubbles. At least you don’t have to rinse the bit after your ride

My trainer’s horse, which I was caring for when she was in hospital. It brought her a chuckle.
He seemed so pleased with himself.

Both mine, but I’m not on either one in this pic!

They just LOVE getting dirty, don’t they? I had one (grey, of course!) that you simply could not keep clean for more than a day.

I know the shadow makes it hard to see, but those dark spots are actually fresh mud!

And another. She had spunk.

This is our Robert, a 1994 APHA gelding. He’s 31 now, but he was a mere colt of 28 when this was taken! He’s a jack of all trades… in his years, he’s been a trail horse, a 4-H super star, happily going around in any tack you put on him, and his last job was a barrel horse. If there was a 5D in the 3D placings, he would have brought home a check every time. In his mind, he was flying, but it’s hard to get that much horse around a set of barrels. He’s 15.2, was 1300 lbs in his prime, and wears the biggest shoes the farrier keeps on the truck. His legs look like tree trunks!

This is my long time partner and I last year at the APHA World Show - we finished third in the country in the pleasure last year with limited showing and hearing his name called winning a card on this day was phenomenal (https://www.instagram.com/reel/C847a_FJbwJ/). He had come back six months earlier after 18 months off with a DDFT tear. Not too shabby for a giant all around horse.

To quote Toby Keith, “He’s not as good as he once was, but he’s as good once as he ever was.”

I love this picture because it’s where I spend any and every early sunrise at a horse show. In the wash rack. Scrubbing poo stains off my beloved pigpen of a grey horse, Happy.
