A fun article about the sport and its traditions

I came across this and thought y’all might enjoy it too.

Loved it–she’s one of my writers!

Now we know where her formidable character, Sister, came from! How wonderful that she was real and part of us.

Anyone remember the kind Grande Dame of the Old Dominion Hounds, Mary Jamieson? She taught me so much about foxhunting and the Old School elegant way of doing things. She always had a pressed, embroidered, linen handkerchief to wipe the blood off, after going though thickets during a run. At the time, I was the only other one to carry a pressed man’s handkerchief for the same reason. After Mary had a fall, I stopped to help her. She had a bloody nose, so I offered my handkerchief. It turned out to be one of those bonding moments.

Thank you for that. Great read.

Great story! Granny sounds like a one in a million — and the thought of those hunt breakfasts is making me hungry!

I love the rules for a hunt breakfast! Timeless!
