So last week I asked DH about going with me if I decide to do the Old Dominion ride in April, he was fairly noncommittal about it and I didn’t really get an answer. Then last night he said that maybe he’d like to go with me because he could watch some. I explained that he may be able to get some glimpses but that it really wasn’t a spectator sport. Then he chimes in with “well at least I could watch you do the jumps right?” Um, huh??? Some how he had equated endurance riding with the cross country portion of 3day- but just thought we went a lot farther. LOL!Then after I explained that there was no jumping involved- he was like, “well I don’t really consider it endurance unless you are jumping” LMAO!
Jumping to the side doesn’t count?
Ha! No endurance without jumping?! Where do they get these strange ideas? I bet if you could get him to go he still might like it. My SO likes to be busy and is the helpful type, and he has now marked trail, helped vets, filled water buckets, worked as a runner. All when someone running the ride asked him for help. Since I taught him the basics he’ll also hold horses, remove tack and can even trot mine out if necessary. It is great to have helpful crew.
