I never liked the color grey, and had no interest in dealing with the green stains and possible melanoma issues. And now I own 2 greys - full siblings. :uhoh: The color is growing on me I guess.
My filly is gorgeous beyond words, in my not so humble opinion…lol… although she’s going to be white in a very short order. She’s only 2 1/2 and is already very light. She’s a big huge girl, really solid and powerful. No one can believe she’s a baby Arab she’s so huge and such an incredibly nice mover. So I am forcing myself to look over her grey plague. LOL
My colt is just 6 months old, (2 months old in this pic) and he’s also going to be a monster in size. He’s in the gangly awful ugly stage right now. He should be a deep steel grey rather than the very light rose grey going white very early that his sister is. Right now with his winter hair on, he looks about 95% pure black. Her first winter, she was already mostly white.
I keep the filly blanketed or in sheets a lot, and I use Vetroline green spot remover. A big stall with plenty of room to lay away from the poop helps. Though sometimes she does use a juicy pile for a pillow.
It does kind of seem that a lot of people aren’t as crazy about greys. In my case, the mare and sire were nice enough, and the babies were nice enough that I bought them despite the color. But that color most definitely is not my first choice.
