Does anyone subscribe to the Barn Manager app? Do you like it? Has it helped with running your barn efficiently? Pros? Cons?
For me there is no need but for a large facility it may be a very useful.
I read the byline of the product… to me it seems to an incomplete product as there is a lot of manual impute required. To me, It is more a file cabinet where records can be maintained or a backroom product used at a desk.
There appears to be no provision or thought of using a chip reader to ID the animal then put the findings in its file
I went back to read some of your posts, you say you are managing a high end barn with over fifty head who are personally taken care of… without a direct data impute to me the use of the product would increase your overall work load significantly.
It kind of reminds me of my wife’s duties as a nurse, documentation may take her three to four hours per shift as everything is manually imputed into the records.

the technology exists for auto recording… I was a consultant to Texas Intrusments back in the 1980s when they were developing RFID chips. Their client was a production farm in Denmark that was raising hogs. The same type of chip used today for animal ID was being tested. The hogs were auto scaled everyday. chip reader read the hog’s ID then recorded its weight.
Admittedly this was of limited use but that was in 1982.
Today a hand scanner is Cheap, and affordable.
A new hire would not need to known if the Bay horse was Bonnie or Betty …just scan and its 123456 or whatever
I saw that this Barn Manager app does not have billing yet either, so the use at this time would just be record keeping
by the way from what you said in an earlier post, you run a nice operation
very true. I have the 2 week trial period and as of now since billing etc is not available, it’s a very detailed record keeping app however so far it has decreased the amount of text messages I get per day as the white board feature and conversations has somewhat replaced those personal text messages.
