What exactly are Hanoverian inspectors looking for in this category? Looking at breeding values — what constitutes a higher score?
If you are looking at the breeding values in the Hanoverian Stallion Yearbook (Jarhbuch Hengste) or at these breeding values from the online database, “Reitpferdepoints/Typ” is an aggregate score of several independent conformation scores, namely: 1) head, 2) neck, 3) saddle position, 4) frame, and 5) sex type. At an inspection, the horse is given a score for each of these conformation elements and when the data is compiled for breeding values, etc., the “riding horse points” is determined. This is like an average, if you will, of those 5 scores (I can’t say definitively that it is a straight average as I don’t know if there are any weighting factors applied). This is long way of saying that inspection judges don’t give a score for “riding horse points.”
Similarly, “Fundament” is an aggregate score for forelegs score and hindlegs score; “Dressur” is the aggregate score for the three gaits and rideability; “Springen” is the aggregate score for jumping ability and jumping technique.
