In Shannon Brinkman’s excellent series of photos on Eventing Nation (here), photo 9 shows a closeup of what looks like a leather version of a lever or no-pull noseband.
My cheeky horse is currently going in the lever on cross country - he tends to just take over, bear down, and head off in his own direction between fences, and a bigger bit just pisses him off. The noseband works like a charm but I don’t love having the metal on his face.
Does anyone know what this is, and if it has a similar effect?

It’s a PS of Sweden, and I don’t think this would really have the same effect as a lever noseband. It’s more like the micklem.
Thanks, guys. I see that now. He’s in a Micklem, actually, unless we pull out the lever. Very interesting. I really resisted putting the lever on him as he is very sensitive, but it does work like a charm. He’s still himself, just a more polite version. I can now proceed from 3 to 4 in the manner the course designer intended, instead of taking unscripted detours in random directions.
I used to have that bridle for my horse before he decided to be more polite and rideable. It helped me a lot with the pulling, although I doubt it packs as much of a punch as a lever noseband would.
Hijacking the thread–what about HHS Cooley’s bridle in the jog?

ok now i need a pic???
I’m not sure I would call that sexy. But I think it’s one of these: http://www.diva-equine.co.uk/DIVA-Leather-Products.html (brown snakeskin with brown padding).
Not a fan of snakeskin on a horse, myself, but to each his or her own!
Oooh! I would like that if some modifications were made to the bridle but, I wonder who made it! It really brings out that horse’s eye to me. I love the brass, I’d prefer oblong buckles as opposed to square given the pattern, and maybe a less straight browband, but I’m so picky on bridles. I’d prefer it to be snakeskin padding for the brow and then the snakeskin noseband like pictured… It looks like a fun bridle.
I love snakeskin (the pattern)… on myself, on my horse, on my cat’s collar… but again, no fashion sense here
Real snake? Tough enough?
Actually, I think it would look very nice and subtle with the strap leather of the bridle in the same brown (or black) as the snakeskin noseband.
I just love lovely leather.
I want that snakeskin bridle like yesterday
Does anyone know what bridle Lauren Kieffer had on Veronica?

It’s legal for xc which is what is shown in the photo.

Why? Why do people adjust their flash so the tail end is flapping at the top like this?! It just really ruins the lines of the face and the neatness of the tack to have that tail end piece sticking up right front and center!
