Where are these spammers located? Are the IPs from the United States or elsewhere?
We can see the Mods are trying really hard to remove them asap but damn… they are being quite productive!!!
There’s already a new one that’s been spamming like crazy over the Off Course forum…
is there any way to restrict new members to one original post per day for a probation period?
can we increase the complexity of the screening question?
this appears like clockwork every weekend.
How come the spammers/bots can post links galore but the minute I try to post one I get ‘unapproved post’?
Seems to me if you can do that to me, the unapproved post thing, you can do that to spammers/bots until you look at the post to determine if it should be approved…
Good question.
My guess only, those are different programs.
One for posters that are signed on.
A different one to filter new posters.
Spammers found a way around that one?
Can a moderator answer about the IP address? Just curious as to where the spammers are coming from (USA or elsewhere). The last one had a link to some Russian website, amongst all the links they posted.
Can a moderator answer the question about the IP addresses?
I don’t think it’s any of your business? The mods take care of the problem. Where the spammers come from is really immaterial.
And to add to this great post by Simkie, I would guess that the spammers use software that makes it hard for the mods to actually know where they are from.
Well thanks for putting me in my place. I was curious. Stupid me.
I’ve asked the moderator to go ahead and delete my thread.
True spam generally comes from unique IP addresses outside the US.
