Best of luck to you! As better stated above, you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. In the interim, I must say I’m thrilled you found a doctor willing to help you manage the pain. Back problems are indescribably painful; it sounds as though you’re in competant hands. All the best-
We’re thinkin’ of you, Fairweather, and we’re praying for you.
You can do it. You can do it. We’re rooting for a good surgery.
What everybody else said!
Your rapid recovery is assured when you have a good puppy to take care of you!
Did they do orthoscopic surgery? Are you home yet? Feeling ok?
Write when you can get to your keyboard. We’re all concerned.
Great news Fairweather! I’m so glad to hear that the surgery went well.
You’ve got the right attitude!! I felt the same way going into surgery. I knew it was my ticket back to a productive life. Best wishes and we’ll be here waiting for you when you come back to the BB.
May you be back in the saddle sooner than expected.
Have had several friends with various back surgerys and while the road back is a bit slow at times, they have all said it was worth the wait.

Well the fact that you have a second medical opinion, and have exhausted alternative therapies says that surgery sounds right for you. I bet you will follow the recommended therapy for after care to the nines. And so will have done everything within your power to make things better.
We will be thinking of you at surgery time. Let’s see that is 3:00 Eastern that will be 12:00 where I am. I will toast an ice tea to you at lunch today.
Looking forward to your prognosis.
“The older I get, the better I used to be.”
Keep thinking, its all easy sailing from here.
Soon you will be pain free and wondering why you didn’t do it sooner. All the best and a speedy recovery.
You Go Girl!! Well, not TOO fast, too soon, but you know what I mean. I am SO happy for you, Fairweather!!!
Please be sure to keep us updated on your progress. I’m sure you know that PT can be a bear at it’s best, but the therapists usually have a silver personality under that slave driver exterior - believe me! (I used to bake mine cookies and such on a regular basis. I don’t know if it “helped” or not. LOL)
We’ll be thinking of you tomorrow! Best of luck and speedy recovery!!
Good luck. My old trainer had major back surgery and was back in the saddle feeling much better afterwards. Hope it’s the same for you.
Happy thoughts being sent your way! We’ll miss ya so hurry back!
Wow, you dont know how nice it was to log onto this website and find all this! I’m blown away…you guys are all so NICE!
Surgery went really well. I am home now, but REALLY sore where the incision is. The relief I’m feeling is worth it though. No more spasms and leg pain is WAY down.
I dont remember speaking to the doctor to well, As soon as I came out of anesthesia they Popped my leg full of Demerol, then fed me some Percocet. I have an incision about 4 inches long, right at my lumbar region. My back (and @ss) is covered in pen and marker spots.
Mom and Dad said the Doc came and spoke to them, said he found something very interesting, and turns out that surgery was really my only option. He found that once he was in there, the portion of disk that had bulged was now “encapsulating” itself…sort of forming a protective barrier. This was in turn creating a larger and larger mass, which was pressing on the sciatic nerve. What’s wierd is that I REALLY started hurting very bad in the last two weeks-my legpain was unbearable. After speaking with the second doctor, then speaking with the first again, they both agreed that I needed to be operated on immediately.
So, here I am, thrilled that I am going to be “fixed” and relieved I made the right decision. I’m stuck in bed as long as pain tells me to stay here, but I am feeling better and better everyday. I still need the meds to get around at all, but as of this afternoon I only need One, instead of three…yea!
I can roll over and stand up and make it to the bathroom all on my own.
Next step is to rest up and see the doctor early next week for a plan of rehab action. I am going to really stick to whatever I need to do because I dont want to go through THIS again…(though the chance is higher that I will experience the same thing again one day, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there)
I still cant believe you all…unreal amounts of nice people on this board. I hope I can return the favor if the time ever comes…
Thanks! I’ll check in when I can!!!
Thanks again,
FW
Always,
FairWeather

The worst is behind you now. I’m so glad everything went well.
Good luck! I’ll be thinking about you. Remember, when you wake up from the surgery, that this will be an unparallelled opportunity to make everyone else dance to your tune. Be sure to make the best of it
Fairweather!!!
Don’t get stuck in the sludge if you’re that confident in your ride!
In your surgery tomorrow. Terrier sympathy is the best!

FairWeather!! I’m so glad that things went well and that it turns out that your decision was the right one. I can only imagine the relief you must be feeling, both physically and mentally, to have that behind you.
You are wise to be so determined to get going on your physical therapy, and to stick to it. Don’t overdo, that can do as much damage as underdoing, but, please do whatever the therapist asks (within reason). That stuff really, really makes a long term difference.
Louise (with a great big grin on her face because you are doing so well)
