A sincere thank you to everyone...

I wanted to post a thank you to all the people who helped me with my back problems. I thought often of how considerate everyone was to respond with well-wishes, similar stories, professional and Non-professional opinions. Ever word was very helpful, and I felt more informed than ever when I went back and spoke with the doctors who would help me out. I wanted everyone to know that I took every post and printed them out and thought long and hard about them. I researched Cauda Equina Syndrome, and several other things that were mentioned. If nothing else I’ve come away from this with a profound understanding of how caring and compassionate this board is.

Not sure if anybody is interested, but I thought I’d post an update. I eventually saw a second doctor, who reiterated the first doctor who stated I needed surgery. Within the date of my last post and now, my pain has increased exponentially. Consequently, I am laying here, souped up on Vicoden, unable to ride and waiting to go into surgery tomorrow at 3:00. Needless to say, I’m a bit worried, but I have a good feeling that this may help me so much. It will be my first major surgery of my life, but I am actually feeling relieved.

Anyhow, Just wanted to say thank you to everyone…And I’ll be back soon!!!

Sidenote: Oh, and by the way, My Kryswyn puppy is doing a good job of keeping my face well-licked and my nose well-nibbled. She is becoming quite the lady of the house and is loved in unreal amounts

Always,

Fairweather, I’m so happy to hear that the surgery went so well. Now, please relax and follow your doctor’s instructions, and get yourself started with physical therapy. DO NOT even think about when you might ride again. Just play it cool until given the go head from your medical team.

Cheers, Maggi

Good Luck and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our thoughts are with you.

Get well soon FairWeather!!

OK, you’ve probably got some pain where the surgery was but you know that’s gonna heal and go away soon Right now you must be PSYCHED that the nerve pain in your legs is fading away. YEAH!!! You go Girl! Best of luck and take it easy!

and prayers said Fairweather. Good luck tomorrow, I know all of us will think of you often!

Good luck! I’m sure all will go well and you’ll be back in the saddle in no time! As soon as your home and feeling up to it, please give us an update.

Sending best wishes your way, FairWeather! My view of it is that back pain is so debilitating and makes you feel so lousy in so many other aspects of your life, then surgery can only help. Good luck and please do keep us updated on your progress when you’re up and around again.

Hope you are back in the saddle soon

PS. Loved your website

when I had my neck surgery, I was put in a big collar and not allowed to move my neck until it fused (6 months). Then I started re-hab. I was so far behind, because of muscle atrophy, that it took me much longer to get well.

So I am glad you are starting re-hab and PT soon. It will make all the difference in your recovery.

PS Isn’t spine pain the absolute PITS? There is nothing else like it – like a hot poker being stuck into you is how I explained it…

Yes, indeed, Louise is right - we’all be thinking of you tomorrow and straining hard to send you good vibes.

Once out of the hospital and when you’re feeling up to it, let us know how you’re doing.

Best of luck tomorrow!

Good luck FairWeather! You’ll make it through this. My husband has a fellow firefighter friend who had a really bad back, to the point of being on disability. He had surgery, went through physical therapy, and now he is back on the job, waterskiing, and snowboarding! You’ll be back riding in no time!

Good Luck Fairweather!! Keep us updated on your progress. Sending good luck cyber vibes your way all day. hehe I rhymed

My father had back surgery 25+years ago, and he has been fine since.

I am sure you will be too.

I am so glad to hear that it all went so well. Hooray for wonderful doctors

Now we expect to hear weekly updates on your recovery!
