‘Tiz a Hissy Fit OTTB???

So I am looking at this mare. She is super green, but has a good brain. I am going to have her vetted I think. I really like her. Any gurus out there know anything about her. Looks like she has had 13 races, but a year long gap if I am reading things correctly.
I am familiar with some names in her pedigree, but there are a lot that I totally have no clue about. Not that it matters that much. Mostly I am happy with her sensibility and sanity in spite of obviously being very green. She was as annoyed with me keeping a little hold if the outside reign, but would not stop popping her shoulder if I didn’t hold it a little at least. But after several circles she said YES ma’am! Gotchya I need to stay a little more straight! Then happy moments!!

hmmmm… I can’t find any horse with that name on the pedigree sites.

I think this is her:

I don’t know if it’s something he’s especially known for, but my friend’s Tiznow grandson is the most laid back, puppy dog personality TB I’ve ever seen. We call him “The Labrador” because he’s a big goofy guy that just wants to hang out and eat your food, lol.

It looks like she last raced at Fairmount, so I’ll ask around at the barn. My trainer ran/will be running there, so she might know some background on this girl.

I had a gelding with similar breeding, and I’d own a other Cee’s Tizzy/Tiznow in a heartbeat. He had wonderful conformation, a good solid build, a “Labrador” like personality as a other poster mentioned, and was just an awesome eventer. Bold, but never rude.

I am sorry. It’s “Tiz a Hissy Fit”. I think auto correct fixes it and I didn’t notice

Thank you so much. Yes that is her Tiz a Hissy Fit
thank you again!

I have seen Tizdejavu in person quite a number of times. He is a plain, brown wrapper for sure, and very easy to overlook. I saw him race at Churchill a handful of times and literally forgot how often I had seen him until I was going back through some old pictures. Then when he went to stud, I remember seeing his advertising picture and not being wowed.

Then I saw him in person again. Talk about a horse who had blossomed in retirement! In his advertising, I thought I saw some questionable leg conformation that turned out to be nothing of the sort-- the horse had a fracture surgically repaired (and returned to race on it) and what I was seeing was merely residual scarring. He filled out in retirement to become a tall, balanced horse, which made it easier to appreciate what a great hip and shoulder he has. Nice walk on him, too. He seemed sensible in my limited interactions with him. I’d like to own a horse by him. And based on the picture in pedigree query, this mare really favors him.

As far as the bottom of this mare’s pedigree, Aldebaran is a horse who I’ve somehow missed. I can’t tell you anything about him. But Damascus inbreeding is exciting to me. I used to think people got overly excited about Damascus… until I owned my own Damascus granddaughter and realized how prepotent his positive sport traits are! Particularly his hind end-- Damascus-bred horses tend to have these great hindquarters that they can engage better than the average TB.

My biggest fear about this mare would be that she’ll live up to her name.

OP – if you decide to pass, please send me her info.

I would look at her off of the linebreeding of Private Account up close, paired with Dixie Brass alone.

The caveat is, I am incredibly fond of Dixie Brass horses. He was not a well known sire, died relatively young before he could make a big impact on the off-track sport world, but there are few horses that make me as excited as he does in a pedigree for eventing.

My best horse to date was a son of his. Total package, extremely honest, catty as all get out, and very sweet. I ended up looking for siblings of his when he passed away unexpectedly, and a friend of mine has a DB son that is an UL eventer. DB has a type that he passed on very reliably and I saw it often in his offspring.

The mare I see on the PQ page favors the type that Tiz & Private Account are prone to pass on. Big hips, great shoulders, and definitely has that stayer’s build I associate with Private Account and the Relaunch line. Her sire Tizdejavu reminds me a bit of Dixie Brass through the neck and eye.

I agree with Texarkana that the Damascus linebreeding is exciting (he is Private Account’s sire). You’re guaranteed a very sporty type that way, if the mare is sound post-racing.

My impression with the Tiznow line is that they are reliably good natured, with decent movement for sport – I wouldn’t say they move the way an El Prado does, but they tend to have better than average movement and make great eventers. With DB in the mix you’re likely going to have a horse that’s catty, and with the linebreeding to PA/Damascus, I’d expect a horse that is tough as nails, thrives on work, and is athletic. AKA – not a horse I would kick out of my barn. :encouragement:

Thank you Beowulf and Texarkana. I will definitely let you know if I pass. Right now I am trying to arrange a PPE ! Fingers crossed. I knew I liked her a lot!

I’m an idiot. I should have noticed… I tend to notice Tiznow horses cause I like their overall builds.

I love the Tiznow plus Private Account. Tiznows have a great sport type…they remind me of Storm Cats without the questionable quirky traits. Good luck!
