A5 Clipper blades that leave hair length longer than T-84?

Is there such a thing? I need to clip my boys legs, but I’d love the hair to be slightly longer. He has four high stockings, and his pink skin underneath can be fairly sensitive. Anyone found a solution?

You may want to retitle this. Something like “Do A5 blades cut hair longer than T84 blades.” I only looked because I did not know what the question was about!

I use the big clippers to remove heavy hair, thick hair, then go back over the areas with the A5 clippers to get it cut shorter and neater looking. So if I wanted short leg hair, but not bald, I would just cut once with the big clippers. The big clippers do cut short, but not to the skin.

Another option is using “combs” on the A5 clippers that prevent cutting hair too short. Sally Beauty Supply sell the clipper combs in all lengths, 1/8 inch to a full 1 inch. I use the combs on my long haired dog to prevent cutting her hair too short or burning the skin with hot blades. Those blades do get hot with long running times on a big dog. . You do have to remove the combs often and brush off collected, cut hair, but they do a nice job of cutting to a consistant length.

I think one of my clippers did come with some combs…the question is can I find them now that I want them?

If you want a wide blade, a 5W will leave 1/4" versus a t-84 that leaves 3/32".

I don’t know of combs that fit the t84 blades.

How about these?

Oh, those blades look like they might work! I should have thought to look in the dog grooming area. Thanks!

I dont know how close the T84 blades cut. I tend to use 7F blades. 10 blades arent super close either. If you want to leave hair longer you can clip with the lie of the hair. Tends to leave more tracks though.

You can always clip with the hair, rather than against it and sort of feather it down on the legs. That is how I blend down a leg with Friesian feather.
