Hi there I wanted to see if anyone had any experiences either positive or negative with the Abler products? More specifically has anyone scoped, been diagnosed, treated with abler, then re-scoped with a positive outcome?
Try a search for “Abler” or “pop rocks” here.
I’ve used Abler in lieu of Gastroguard for years and always had success. But I have mostly used it for my source of omeprazole at shows, which means preventative and no scoping.
But I believe there have been many people here over the years who have done much more legitimate investigation into the efficacy and comparison against other products.
I didn’t have my horse scoped but he was throwing himself down and casting himself every night in his stall, so I suspected potential ulcers and tried the Abler “pop rocks”. It seemed to make a huge difference for my guy.
I’ve used the Abler paste multiple times (I’ve not had success with the pop rocks as my horses just won’t eat them) with success. With my one gelding, he was only scoped after he was treated (early covid), but he had all the classic signs that diminished with the Abler paste and he scoped clean with scarring.
I’ve also used it with the super senior several times in addition to ulcergard and haven’t noticed any difference between the 2 products. The ulcergard doesn’t stick to the tube as much and has a nicer tube (dosing 1/2 or 1/4 tube is easier) but he more readily swallows the Abler. Honestly, he’s the worst when it comes to medication and he’s come a long way. He just finished up 30 days and a taper of Abler (with some ulcergard I had on hand) because I had mice in the barn and he stressed (he’s this horse), but he’s back to his calm self and will be thrilled not to get his daily paste. I can’t know for sure since I won’t scope him (we don’t leave the property), but physically he appears better.
LOVE the Abler pop rocks omeprazole. My horse is on them for maintenance (scoped and treated with Gastro Gard multiple times by his previous owner) and it works very well. Abler is the best option for price that I could find.
Yes. Scoped, treated with AbGuard (paste version) and then scoped again. Treated.
Other horse, I did not scope and just treated with paste version. Symptoms resolved after two weeks, but I did a full month of paste.
Had one that was displaying ulcer signs…treated with Alber. Did scope later and was free from ulcers. Now it could be she never had ulcers to start with. She was a tricky mare anyway, so hard to say. But she definitely was the type to have ulcers and did not have them after being on the Alber pop rocks.
