Abler Sucralfate? Anyone with Experience?

I’m getting powdered Sucralfate through my vet right now for $127 ($116 bucket + $11 shipping). Just wondering if there are any more cost effective sources to get it. I’ve never tried Abler’s product.

What is the concentration and size of the jar? I get mine from Rood and Riddle pharmacy, but they offer several concentrations. I get the 10gm/scoop and 100 scoop jar and it is $135 plus shipping.

Abler has it

Publix and use the goodrx coupon for like 89 a bottle

I updated the title of this thread to see if you (@Xanthoria) or anyone else has had experience using Abler Sucralfate?

I’m mainly concerned about its palatability. My horse loves Sucralfate powder and will lick it out of his feed tub. I’m not sure if he would eat the pop rock form as readily. Knowing him, he probably would. But just hoping to hear others real world experience.

Title change - Bump

No problems - my horse apparently didn’t have ulcers after all so I have lots over, but she ate what was given fine. Sucralfate doesn’t taste bad by the way - I’ve had some prescribed to me.

Thanks for the feedback! How did you feed it to her? Did you just sprinkle it over some feed?

Yes - sprinkled over a handful of rice bran, given 30-60 mins before feed or other meds, 2x a day.

As the Abler site says:

AbSucralfate granules

Give at least 30minutes before or after other medication and feed
Most effective when fed every 6-8 hours - Give at least twice per day (AM /PM)
Do not mix sucralfate with other medication or supplements
Try to feed when horses stomach is least likely to be at its fullest- (morning)
Top dress granules to a handful of dry or moist chaff
Add to oil, corn syrup, molasses or a treat
Mix into a paste and smear onto apples or carrots
Mix with water and administer via oral syringe

I had a few that were reluctant initially but considering they probably weren’t eating great because of the ulcers….I top dressed with a little corn syrup for a few days until they got it in their system and then weaned off the syrup and they ate just fine.

Both of my horses are currently on it and have always eaten it without issue. I can’t remember if they offer different type but I get the little sprinkle looking kind and it works just fine.
