Acavallo Massage Gel Pad - Do you Use?

I am just looking to get feedback on this. Do you use it, if so why? What do you like about it and what do you find it to be beneficial for? Do you find it to be beneficial for shock absorption? Do you find it to be helpful for keeping a saddle more stable from shifting on a horses back?

Thanks!

I’ll weigh in.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago, and LOVE it! I have a young homebred WB mare who is wide and flat through the barrel, “tube shaped”, not much of a wither and not uphill :sigh: Her saddle is professionally fitted, but it STILL tends to want to slide forward despite a TSF girth AND a standard non-slip pad.

The Acavello has FIXED the problem! The saddle stays put throughout the whole ride, no shifting. She also seems to like it, and goes well in it - and her back feels great

It’s a little spendy, but was WELL worth it in my case.

Does it sit directly on the horse’s back? Or does it go between pad and saddle? I am looking for something that will fill in some space until my mare builds her top line. Sheilah

Yes, it goes directly on the back; it’s very squishy and sticky, stays put well.

I love mine. It immediately made a difference in my ability to sit the trot. I put it between pad and saddle just like any other half pad. I tend to use thin pads not the really fluffy ones.

I got one for shock absorption/pony’s comfort. He used to get a bit back sore occasionally, and having a half-pad seems to prevent that issue most of the time. I’d previously used another foam-type half pad that worked well but my washing machine would eat it repeatedly, so I got this since it can be hosed off!

I really like my acavallo stuff. I used one of these on my round guy to stick the saddle. Now I am riding my young one in one of the super light pads that they came out with this year.
