Recently someone on Facebook posted an older thoroughbred stallion for sale, and me being curious looked the horse up. The Jockey Club lists him as a gelding, Equibase has the horse listed as a gelding, but the seller observes that the horse has visible testicles! 😂
Looking at the horse’s race record, there is clearly a period that he ran as a colt, and a period after that he was listed as a gelding. Seller says tattoo and paperwork matches, and as I’m not at all invested beyond curiosity, I can’t help but take that as the truth.
So my question is, does this sort of thing actually happen? I would imagine as this information is important to the betting public, the powers that be (Jockey Club, Race Stewards) would not be too happy about someone misreporting a gelding.
