Adding Cage to Endurance Stirrups

I have wide, leather covered, padded endurance stirrups on my saddle. I am thinking I would like to add safety cages so I have the option to ride in running shoes safely.

This is what I have: http://www.horsesaddleshop.com/tucker-trail-glide-ebs-stirrpus.html

Has anyone added the Easy Ride stirrup cages to existing stirrups or am I better off just buying new stirrups?

It looks like the stirrups could be drilled out easily enough.

Thoughts?

I’ve heard some good things about these and have been considering them for myself:

I love the cages! I have added on cages and bought the stirrups with cages. I have even changed the stirrups from endurence width to english with by going to the hardware store and buying ss bolts and pvc cut to size over the bolts. It is an easy process. You will love them. Great for wearing running shoes.

Haven’t added, but have caged stirrups (wide tread, anti-slip, cushioned, fabulous)…if it were me, I’d just buy the caged. But I’m kinda lazy. Too lazy to add cages to stirrups.

I have Toe Stoppers. They can easily be moved from stirrup to stirrup, super light. The cages look like, well…cages…

I had cages once, E-Z ride stirrups. They kept getting caught on bushes, etc. so I now have the regular E-Z stirrups, but I’m thinking of the getting the ones with ones with tapaderos. The cage is probably okay if you’re riding wide trials, otherwise it’s a nuisance.
